old boys'•rcunlen of 19x9, There was
a balance ,on hand af`"about $440 from
the reunion and the inonsey was de-
posited- in, the bank to await some
contrnunit'y project to which. it could
be devoted. A. P. Stewart, the treas-
urer of the reunion, and G. H; Smith,
as the two men most responsible for
,the success of the 19xo meeting of old
boys, have"licel, control of the fund
and they are tobe congratulated on
banding the money over, to snail
worthy community project as the Me-
morial Park. This summer it is pro-
posed to have the most up-to-date
bowling - greens and tennis courts as
well as a breathing space for the. citi-
zens and a beauty spot in this Me-
anorial Parlc that any town might be
proud of.
Thursday evening a reorganization
of the Lucknow Horticultural Society.
was held in the council chamber room
of the Carnegie Ball. ,William Hartry
gave a fine address, illustrated by
lantern views. There was a goodly at=
tendance of those interested in having.
a beautiful town and much enthusi-
asm was manifested by those present
in makings Lucknow, by nature, a pret-
ty town, more beautiful by a plentiful
supply of flowers;' etc. The officers
elected were: L residenrt,,,. S. C. Roth-
well; secretary -treasurer, G. H. Smith
first vice-president, Miss Dolly Hen-
derson; ,second vice-president, Robert
I'hotnpson.
Mr: and Mrs. Glennie are bidding
their friends farewell to -day prior to
their departure for the old country,
where they will enjoy a three -months'
holiday. Mr. Giennie has been. for
some years manager' of the. Bank of
Hamilton here and :when ,the Com-
merce absorbed the Bank of Hamilton
he was retained in the position , as
manager of the Bank "'of Commerce.
Mt. Williams of, Wingham, will act
as manager during Mr. Glennie's ab-

An interesting service was held' last
night in the Methodist church, the
meeting being entirely oonducte'd by
laymen: Dr. Newton, Dr. Spence,
John Joynt, M. L.,A., and D., C. Tay-
lor took part in the service. :'The mu-
sic was furnished by a large choir- of
men, Mr. Taylor gave an. interesting.
address on "Immigration and the
Churchs' Task."
