latives in this locality, died suddenly
at the home of her sister, Mrs, D. B,1
Pope, on Monday night. Deceased I

Arnold Hogg of Thamesford, spent
a few days with Mr,' and Mrs. D. J.

Robert Musgrove had the misfor-
tune to crit a gash in his foot with
an axe on Tuesdaywhile cutting
wood.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Coultess of
Listowel were visitors here last
week.
Robert Yeo who has been missing
from his home since last Saturday,
was located at Goderich on Tuesday
and bi.ought back home. He makes
his borne with his brother George,
and last Saturday disappeared and
considerable anxiety was caused for
searching parties who had been un-
able to locate him.
Per Olsson, who has been with A.
McEwen the last year, left for Foss -
mill, New Ontario, where he has se-
cured employment with a lumber
company.
Sam Burke, first line Morris, had
the misfortune to have his barn de-
stroyed by fire on Thursday after-
noon, from unknown causes. Most of
the contents were destroyed together
with the season's hay and grain crops.
,Hallowe'en pasted off rather quiet-
ly. .The night was very dark and
rainy.
Mr. and Mrs, Robert Aitcheson
treated their friends to a dance on
Thursday night.
Miss. Mary Spence of Brantford;
has returned home after spending a
few days with her cousin, Mrs. R.
and had; gone to Gorrie that even- McKinnon,
Mrs, Lillow is able to be ,around
again after her recent 'fall, which
might very easily have been much
more serious.
Mrs, 3. Wesley Leggatt of White-
church visited on Wednesday with
her brother; Alex, Mowbray,
Mrs, Peter D. Ding, Miss Marg-
aret Garniss and : Miss Olive Scott;
attended: the sectional meeting of the
W.M,S, of thePresbytcrian Church
held in .i3eigrave on Tuesday after-
noon. Miss Garniss sang "Calvary",
during the program, and was highly

ton and Eldon and John Kirton mot-
ored to Waterloo Tuesday and spent;
the day with Miss Bella Kirton who
is not enjoying very good health at
present and is at Waterloo taking
treatment.

Rev. H. Bolingbroke preached an

from the many phone calls was en-
joyed by the radio audience. Next

Mr. Wm. Mitchell received the sad
news of his brother, Frank's, death
which occurred last week in Winni-
peg. Frank was well and favorably
known in these parts, having lived
here for a number of years, He
leaves to mourn his loss a wife and
adult family, a brother, Robert, in
Wingham, and W. J., of Howick,
who have the sympathy of this coin-
munity.
5. J. Weir, a former Howick boy,
who has been Assistant Manager for
the Imperial Oil in Toronto for some
time, is leaving this week for Pitts-
burg to take a position as Manager
for the Standard Oil in that city.
Jack has many friends around Salem,
it being the home of his childhood.
We are always glad to hear of our
