Vera, returned home from a two
weeks' visit with relatives in Loudon
and Ingersoll.
Mr. and Mrs. Neil Beaton and dau-
ghter, Nell, of London, Dr. and Mrs.
Robertson, and sons, of Ayre, visited
with their cousins, Mrs. Robert Nel-
son, Mrs. Kennie Farrish and Mr.
Jack McDonald.
Miss Mary Hart, of Mount Forest,
spent a few days with her cousins,

Mr. Finlay Shackleton, who has
been taking University work in Tor-
onto, returned home Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Misner, of Strat-
ford, returned home after spending a
week with Mr. and Mrs. Herb Cur-
ran. Their aunt, Mrs, Sarah Saun-
ders, returned with them.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Love, of Mar -
nock, spent Sunday with Mr, Will
Baldwin.
Miss Helen Burt, of Holyrood, is
assisting Mrs. Gordon Ritchie for a
month.
Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Cameron and
family spent Thursday with Mr. and
Mrs. Jim.-Purdon, West Wawanosh.
Rev. Mr. Taverner and Mrs. Taver-
ner are leaving Tuesday fora month's
vacation at Mimic° Beach.
Miss Jean Purdon, of West Wawa -
nosh, is at present visiting with •her
cousin, Miss Jean Cameron.
Mr. Isaac Nixon •and his mother,
spent a day recently near Coiling -
wood.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Andrew and
little daughter, are leaving this week
to make their home in Owen Sound.

near Fordivich, called on Mr. and

spending a few weeks with her sis-
ter,, Mrs. Wm. Twamley.
Miss Mary Phillips, of Toronto, is
spending a few weeks with her sis-
ter, Mrs. Thomas Ferguson.

Miss Olive Kennedy and. Mrs.
Lamb, of Goderich, returned home
from Hamilton on Saturday.
Miss Ethel Currie, of Zetland, left
on Sunday to visit her sister and oth-
er relatives in Toronto for a couple
of weeks.
Mr. Harry McClennaghan and fam-
ily, of Belgrave, visited with Mr. and
Mrs. George McCleneghan on Sun-
day.
Mr. Russell Gaunt has hired with
Mr, Fred Davidson, for the fall
threshing.
A number of the young people of
Whitechurch, attended the weiner-
roast at the home of Mr. and Mrs,
Cecil Falconer on Wednesday even-
ing last.
Mr. Arthur Moore motored to Or-
angeville on Saturday evening to
bring Mrs, Moore home, who has
been visiting with her relatives there.
Mr. Arthur and Eddie Moore mot-
ored to London and brought home a
new cement mixer.
Mr. Wm. Hawthorne motored from
Brantford last week and is visiting
with his sisters, Mrs. Kerr, and Mrs.
Joe Holmes.
Mr, Percy Suggitt motored from
Toronto. on Friday for his wife and
family who have been visiting with
McCleneghan Bros, and other rela-
tives in this community, Miss Lorna
McCleneghan returned with them to
Toronto for a week's visit.
Miss Buzzbie, Miss Kathleen Kerr
and Mr, Malcolm Ross xnotored from
Toronto to spend the week -end with
the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. M,
Ross. Miss Kathleen is staying for
three weeks' holidays.
Mr. and Mrs. W. 5. Foster, of Bay-
field are visiting over the week -end
at the home of her brother, Mr. F.
Henry.
Mt. and Mrs, N. Thompson and
baby, of St Louis, are itisiting with
his father, M. Robert Thompson.
Mr. and Mrs. Gibson Gillespie and
family also Mr, and Mrs. Murray and
family, of Walton, spent Sunday with
friends at Grand Bend, Miss Edythe
Peddle, who has been visiting there,

Rev, H. G. Whitfield preached on
Sunday, after enjoying a month's va-
cation. It will he interesting to note
that a beautiful Bible for the pulpit
has been presented to the United
Church by Mr, and Mrs. Win. Bar -
bout and which 3s duly appreeiated
by both Pastor and congregation,

their daughter, Mrs, John Pordon.
Misses Olive and Verna Purdon re-
turned home with them for a few

family motored from. Bruce Mines
last week and are visiting with his
mother, Mrs, Wm. Martin, here.
Mr. and Mrs, Frank Paterson and
son of Detroit, are visiting with his
father, Mr. F. McK. Paterson.
Miss Olive Kennedy and. her sis-
ter, Mrs. Lamb, were in Hamilton

Wilson.
Miss Evelyn Reed spent the week-
end with her sisters at Listowel; and
J. C. is visiting with his aunt, Mrs.
Anderson, of Ashfield.
Jack Gillespie spent a few days last
week at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Murray, of Walton.
Mrs. Campbell and, Mr. Archie
Watt and Harry Waterson and Mr.
Harry McCleneghan and family, of
Belgrave, were Sunday visitors at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Robt.McClen-
eghan.
Mr. Arthur Moore motored on Sat-
urday to Orangeville for Mrs. Moore
twhheore. has been visiting her motherthere.
Mrs. McInnis; Mrs. John Falconer
and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Falconer and
children motored to Goderich on
Sunday and visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Alec Butler; Mrs. Elgin Wellwood
and son, Richard, returned with
them.
Mr. and Mrs. Amos Cornelius and
Mr. Jas. Cornelius were called to
London on Sunday to see Mr. Daniel
Steele who is seriously ill in West-
minster; Mr. Sam Hutchison, our lo-
cal smithy, accompanied them to
visit his mother, who is very ill.
Mr. Elmer Pardon, of Detroit, spent
the week -end at his home at St. Hel-
ens. Master Eddie Stark, who has
been visiting here, returned to his
home in Detroit with him.
Nurse Beckett, of Ashfield, who has
been nursing at the home of Mr. Robz
ert Mowbray, was called to Holyrood
to nurse Mr, John Purvis, who is
again seriously ill.
We are sorry to report •that Mrs.
David Farrier has been seriously ill.
Her daughter, Mrs. John Ross, and
babe of Huron Twp., are with her for
a few days,
Mr. Elmer Tiffin is making exten-
sive alterations to the home of Mr.
Jas. Falconer this week.
Mr. Jas. Purdon and sons, Harris,
and Willis, of. St. Helens, motored
to Powasson on 'Wednesday and re-
turned on Sunday after visiting rela-
tives there.
Miss Lila Humphreys, of St. Helens
is visiting her sister, iVIrs. Geo. Walk-
er of E. Wawanosh.
Mrs. Emerson and Jas. and Lila,
spent Sunday iwth Mr. and Mrs. A.
E. Emerson, of Kincardine.
On the 'Wednesday last the young
people held a weiner roast at the
,horne of Mr, and Mrs, Cecil Falconer.
The W. M. S. of the United Chorch
have invited the W. M. S. of St. Hel-
ens Church to hear Miss Edythe Ped.
die on Wednesday afternoon and en-
joy a social half hour. The Y. P, S.
are holding a weiner roast in the
church basement on Monday night to
have a social time with Miss Peddle.
Miss Daisy Kennedy who has been
visiting her sister, Mrs. Larnb, • of
Goderich, has, returned home.
Miss Dorothy. Hutalson, of Wing -
ham is visiting at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Will Conn.
Mr. and Mrs, Wilmer Nicholson,
and. son, of Auburn, visited with her
father, Mr. Ed. Gaunt on Sunday.

Brantford, spent last week with his

had a family reunion on Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Walters, of Cul-

Mrs, Cecil-Palconer and family spent
Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Geo.
Tiffin.
The members of the choir of Chal-
mers' church met on Monday even-
ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Jas. Wilson, and presented Miss
Merle 'Wilson with a beautiful club
bag prior to her departure in Sep-
tember to train in Stratford Hospital.
Miss Merle has been organist for
some years and will be missed great-
ly in this community.
Mr. Rhys. Pollock spent the week-
end with his father, Rev. J. Pollock,
and other friends at Ingersoll.
Miss Kate Smith, of Galt, is visti-
ing with Mrs. Andrew Fox.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert McQuillan and
Miss Donelda McCallum attended the
Anniversary services of the Anglican
Church in Kinlough on Sunday, and
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mac-
Lean.
M. Joseph Chaniney is suffering in
ten.sely from blood poisoning result-
ing from having his finger jammed.
Little Dorothy Shiell, daughter of
Mr. and. Mrs. Alex. Shiell, of Wind-
sor, had her left arra broken at the
wrist, a week ago. Mrs. Shiell is vis-
iting with her parents, Mr -and Mrs.
Sam McBurney and other relatives.
