last week.
There was a district meeting in the
interests of the softball Association
held here last week. Charles John-
ston is supervisor for the eastern
district. Belgrave, Bluevale, Wing -
ham, Salem and Gorrie will be in the
league and all excepting the latter
two will have, both boys and girls
trains,` the first game to be played on
May. 31. Tuesday and Friday will be

relatives in Manitoba and Saskatche-

annual garden party.

Forest was home over the week -end.
Mrs. A. Fox of Whitechurch, and

were Sunday visitors at the horne of

Mrs. and Harry Toms of Hamilton,

pastor will be away attending Con-
ference.

There .was a large crowd attended
the funeral of the late William Pat-
ton which was held• from the home
of Mr, David Patton on Sunday after-
noon

1VIr. Walden conducted the services
and the pallbearers were Alex. Mac-
Ewen, John Messer, Jos. Brecken-
ridge, John Hall, Wm, Thornton and
Richard Johnston. The remain were
brought up from Richmond Hill by
auto hearse on Sunday.

James Kerney, who recently pur-
chased the Aitchison property .is er-
ecting a poultry house,
David Patton received word on Sat-
uiday morning that his brother, Wil-
liam Patton, passed away at his home
in Richmond Hill on Friday, De-
ceased was in his 90th year and well
and favourably know" here by a lar-
ge circle of friends, as he resided
here before moving to Toronto about
20 years ago.' He is survived by one
brother at Peterboro, and David here,
also by one daughter, Ruth, at halite
aiid one son, David, at home. The
latter at the present time is laid tip
in bed as the result of an accident a
few days ago, Mr. Patton was a' Lib-
eral and a Presbyterian. The funeral
was held from the "hone of Daviel
Patton an Sunday afternoon to the
Eluevale cemetery,
