The death of Hannah Bane, widow
of the late Wm. Bone, occurred on

Mem'orial hospital after an illness of a

DEAD
• Walla.ce. Potter, a prominent farmer,
living on the outskirts of 13lyth, drop-
ped dead on Thursday afternoon. He
had been abaft his work as usual, al-
though he had been receiving treat-
ment for hardening of the arteries.
Re was in his 68th year. Besides his
wid-ow, he leaves a grown-up family,
Mrs. Arletta Fear, of Morris; Mrs.
Maitland Bell, of Goderiche and Mrs.
Mna ogarta, of Blyth; also three bro-
thers, John of Blyth, George of East
Wa-svanosh, and Dr. William Potter,
of Galt, Iowa:

which saves time and space and cuts
the freight costs in two. In carload
lots, $75o in freight alone can be sav-
ed in a haul from Wingham to Van-
couver. These Patents ha-ve so in
creased the sales that extra space for
production purposes is badly needed

Although Fry & Blackhall Limited
commenced operations in a very small
way, they now have forty hands on
their payroll not including commis-
sion..salearelen and eince-eommence-
ment have paid oat in sala.ries and
twages $160,619.93 and for Hydro Pow-
er, business taxes, light and water,
$6,246.21. These expenditures have un-
doubtedly been a great help to the
town of Wingham, especially since
this firm has received absolutely no
assistance to date from the town.
Now with a rapidly increasing busi-
ness they find their capital required
for financing. Their possibility for
growth and expansion is limited only
to the aggressiveness of then -organ-
ization and, the necessary capital at
their_ disposal. In order to pay cash
for the Union Factory, move, and
melee some necessary repairs and al-
terations, ax5,000 will 136 required, Fry
& Blackhall Limited will therefore
ask the Council of the Town of Wing -
ham to submit a by-law to the rate
payers providing for a loan of $15,000
for ts years at 3 per cent. interest,
repayable $t000 of principal yearly

with interes-this loan to be secured
by a first xnortgage on the property.
Some other minoa concessions such
as a fixed assessment will also be
asked.

men, well known in the community,
four of whom along with many of the
employees, own homes in Wingharn.
Our town has. all too few industries

Mr, John Lees of Bruce Mines Al-
