As security the tow gets a second Mortgage, subject to an ex- isting one of $7,000, on a property „that is conservatively valued at $z2,000 Of course, the first and vital question to many will be; "What is this loan going • to cotter It just means an ad- dition. to the tax bill of •Itx cents per year, per $1,boo assessment for the a ten years the debenture s will run; • F4 truly not 3 very heavy burden, even if it could be considered in that ht;ht. The ..people of Wingleam rea- lized all this, provided the Arena, which gives every acconmeedation a much larger town might well envy, and make: their investment as a civic duty, rather than in anticipation of ever receiving any cash dividends. While the affair is a limited joint. stock company, it is really more of a community affair, and deserves the support of those who have a real in- terest in the youth of the town and vicinity. In battling its way along a rather, rough financial road the Arena Limited have received, possibly $5o in hall rent rebates, from the town coun- cil, but no other financial assistance.. What help it needed, some of the di- rectors and officials pledged their per- sonaJ notes for necessary accom- modation. Apparently this is becoming rather disatisfactory and unpleasant, and so the directors ' are asking for this loan to put the company on a safer basis, and to relieve them of. an entirely unnecessary financial obliga- tion.
