Why not do as well by the town as it does by you? No citizens is so powerful, none so humble, but what the town is an aidto him in some way or other. The food that he eats, the clothes he wears, the recreation and amusement that he enjoys, all orig- inate in the town, because the money with which they are procured is niade there. When a fellow boosts his own town he does not stop there. He is performing an act that improves his own condition, for every goodword and every good deed has its elevating influence. A few people are always home town boosters. They accom- plish much in the way of community betterment, and this improves the con- dition of not only themselves, but al- so of those who do no boosting at all. If every citizen would -constitute himself a home town booster the re- sult collectively would be many times as great, and opportunities for self- improvement would be 'more numer- ous. Think it over in your odd mo- ments. Then get into the boost wa- gon and hit the pace. Experience not REUNION S. S. NO. 1o, MORRIS (Brussels Post) How dear to our hearts are the scenes • of our childhood, When fond recollections, ,present them to view; The hill; and the creek) and the little old schoolhouse , And all. the fond scenes that our in- fancy knew. * ` * .And what a gathering there was at the old school house last Thursday afternoon, when old pupils and :many teachers gathered to renew acquaint- ances with those who still reside around and near the old school of r „ S.S. No. io, AVarris, The day was ideal, everybody set out to have a real sociable time and even the three political candidates were busy greeting all. A parade opened the proceedings, headed by the Mount Forest Pipe Band, and after the school roll and visitors' book was signed and a ,soc- ia chat, the afternoon program was presided over by Dr. R. L. Stewart, of. Wingham, a former teacher of the school. A .pleasing feature of the day was the visit back to the old scenes of the second teacher of the school, Mrs. Roe, of St. Paul, Nebraska, better known when teaching as Miss Mary Ann McCracken. Mrs. Roe had writ- ten after receiving an invitation, that "she would be there if she broke a leg" and despite her So odd years, is bright and happy at having the op- portunity of seeing old friends again. A beautiful bouquet of roses was pre- sented to her by the school. Following was the program Chorus by old pupils—"Rolling Home to Dear Old Morris. Address by chairman, who intro- duced Mrs. Roe, who spoke a few words. Address of welcome Shaw. Selectipn by Pipe Band. Speech by Inspector Richard Lees, Peterboro, a teacher 5o years ago. Drill by twelve young ladies. Selection by Pipe Band. Speech by Rev. J. T. Strachan, of Owen Sound. Solo—Lorne Eckmiei Chorus by the Robb family, of Stratford. Speech Campbell Cowan, City. Solo -Lorne Eckniier. Letters read from former pupils and teachers: Chorus — "Games of Childhood Days." Supper was served to the big crowd and just as the evening pro- gram was to commence by the Stmt-"` ford Concert Company, a rain storm stopped proceedings. Dancing inthe pavillion, however, kept up until mid- YOUR id (the first teacher), Lucy A, Dulmage, John Baird, Andrew Cowan, 'Robert Sperling, Mr. Burke, Gertie Dean and Joseph Smillie. The 1.927 reunion will log live in the memories of the old boys and girls who came back to visit old friends and old scenes. The committee worked. ° hard t-, make it a success an. have the sat- isfaction to know their work was no. in vain, and after paying all expenses will have a small surplus, What We Noticed W. J. McKinney has as much spring as ever when it comes to step danc- ing ancing in costume. At 85 Mrs. Mary A. Roe is as charming as ever and gave some very interesting reminicences or former days. Only one of her, former pupils of sixty-five years ago could be found in the audience. Inspector Richard Lees, of Peter- born, who taught here fifty years ago, heard many a tragic tale of how he wielded the shillaley in those good old days, John Wilson, of Harrow, a former trustee of S. S. No. io over ` thirty years ago, still has a twinkle in his eye and can tell a story with as much spice as ever. " There were. many happy family . re- unions, perhaps none more fully rep- resented than the Robb family—six out of the seven members still living were present, three coming from the west. One feature of the school decora tions, which found a tender response n in the, hearts of many, was a list of formerpupils who hada passed to the Great Beyond. This roll, which was framed and draped in mourning, com- prised almost one hundred names, four being heroes of the great war: Charles Forrest, H. Anderson, James Richardson, Dan. O'Toole. The school was tatsefully decorated. with evergreens and flowers. Many a laugh was enjoyed , by looking at photos of pupils taken years ago,. which adorned the walls. Far and, ~vide have the pupils of No. to wandered in the years that have come and gone.
