TOWN COUNCIL SURPRISED
)Canadian Underwriters' Association
• Make Very Extensive Requests.
Reese McKibbon was the only ab-
sentee at the regular meeting of Wing -
ham Council on 'Monday evening,
when 'Clerk Galbraith read a lengthy
report ' of the visit on , ,March, 06th
last, of C. W. Graham, Inspector of
the Canadian Fire Underwriters' As-
sociation, The Inspector fiist reports
on general conditions in the town as
regards Waterworks System, Fire De`
pertinent, Alarm System, By-laws and
Conflagration Hazard; and also notes
changes affected since his previous
visit on November 2nd, 1922.
At his March visit he pulled the
alarm at 3.25., an automobile arrived
at 3.26, but was not required. ” Reel

to 70 on request With three lines of
hose of 25o feet each, using -ein., 2in.,
and Yin. rings, approximately 554, 600
gallons of water were discharged per
24 hours. Then followed a technical
account of pounds pressure at nozzle
without hose at several street water
sections and a summary of appliances
iri use.
But, his general remarks and noted
definitions in the system made the
Council almost gasp. '
He wants a new and more compre-
pensive By -law -regarding storing of
•',inflammables and explosives.
i A duplicate pumping equipment is
suggested for the well, which has a
natural flow of '144,000 gallons per
24 hours, whereas the supply should
r- be not less than 625,000 gallons. Elec-
trically driven pumps have a daily
capacity of 432,000 gallons and 360;
