On. Thursday evening, May 5, Mrs.
Hilborn, wife of the late Emmanuel'
Hilborn, passed to her reward. She
had been in ill -health for some time
but it was not uzitil recently that her
condition was considered serious.
Mr. and Mrs. Hilborn came to Blyth
from Freelton, about zo years ago.
Mr. Hilborn operated the flour mills
up to the time of his death about six
years ago, when his son, Leslie, and
S. G.`Leslie took over the business.
Mrs, Hilborn was a faithful member of
Queen street United Church.
HANOVER
Peter Zettler, a young man whose
home is at Dunkeld, on the Elora
Road, is in' a critical condition in.
Hanover Memorial Hospital, 'with
only a slight •chance for recovery'
farm injuries sustained, in a motor
accident, which occurred at Maple
Hill at anearly hour Saturday morn-
ing, when a car driven by Earnest
Gateman e of Brant collided with a
car driven by Gladstone McIntyre,
automobile salesman of Walkerton.
Zettler was the, only person injured
of the •three occupants of the car
driven by Gateman. The latter was
placed under arrest, following the
accident.` M1 •
RAPID CITY,
There has been quite a change in,
the real estate business in Rapid City
during 'the past week.
Mr. Peter Carter has . traded his
house and lot in Lucknow to Mr. An-
drew Lockhart of Rapid City, Mr.
Carter has moved up to the Lockhart
farm and Mr, Lockhart has moved to
the house in town where Mr Carter
lately resided. Mark Gardener htis
moved up to the farm lately owned by
Mrs. Hodgens of Stratford and Nor-
man Stewart is moving into Mrs, Mc
Innis house and Mr. Angus McDoug-
all of Kincardine. is moving into the
house • where Mr. Stewart resided.
We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Peter Ca-
ter and family to our little city,
Mr. Alfred Richie of Lucknow spent.
Sunday with Rapid City friends.
The boye of Rapid City finished
their contract in the McDougall bttslh
last Saturday. This large • bush
bought by the Goderich ,Mfg. Co and
superintended, by Mr. Elliott Miller
of. Lucknow who had the contract of
cutting the logs and wood which was
a source of employment for the Rap-
id City boys since last December.
Mrs. W. M. Champion of Station
street, Lucknow, is visiting her daugh-
ter, Mrs,, M. Gardner of Rapid City,
at, present.
The Many friends of, Ralph Carr
will be glad to know that he has been
transferred from Lindsay to the head
office of the C.P; R. at Toronto, as
operator.
Mr, and Mrs, A. J, Walker and farm,
fly spent Sunday in Seafort•h.
A new organ has been installed in
the Forrest.er's Fall, Belmore.
Mrs, W. R, Hatnilton and daughter,
Ruth, spent Saturday with friends in
Hlarriston.
Dr. A. J, Irwin is in Toronto this
week attending/the Dentist's Conven-
tion,
Mr, George Ross of Bokula Island,
Florida, is visiting his brother, Mr.
Morley Ross, 2nd. line Morris.
Sandy Orchard, assistant at the
C.P,R. has been sent to Brampton
and Harry Short, of . Arthur, is tak-
ing his place at Wingham,
Mr. and Mrs. Get T, Robertson
motored to Rochester over the week-
end,
Rev, D. E. Foster,; Ii . A. of Toron-
to, will occupy the pulpit at the Wing -
ham United Church on Sunday next,
May 22nd. Mr, Foster comes highly
recommended and a large congrega-
tion should greet him.
LUCKNOW ANNIVERSARY
Successful anniversary services
were conducted in Lucknow Presby-
terian Church on Sunday, May .8th.
Rev. J. IVI. McFaul; of ;Milton being
the special preacher. Atthe evening
service the seating capacity of, the
church was taxed to the utmost to
ahomniodate those attending. :Luck -
now United and South Kinloss Pres-
byterian churches having withdrawn
their services to permit their mem-
hers to attend. A large number were
present also at the excellent anniver-
sary concert on Monday evening.
Audit Reveals Shortage.
The auditors in going over the
books of the Walkerton Electric
Light & Power Co. have discovered
a deficit of some thousands, and
'whether or not this is an error in
the entries on the part of the book-
keeper, Mr, Lorne Carr, has not yet
be,par determined. When. Mr. Carr
learned that there was an alleged
"shortage in the funds over which he
had control, he voluntarily surrend-
ered himself to the authorities. Bail
to the extent •of $ro,000 was imme-
diately procured for hint.

Wedding bells are ringing and, ring-
ing in this community.
NIr. and Mrs. F. Henry are spend-
ing two weeks with friends in Ham-
ilton, St. Catharines and Toronto.
Mr. Will Reid of Paris and Mr.
Russel Reid of 'Brantford, were called
home on account of the illness of both
their parents.

Muriel, of'Toronto, ' are here on ac-

new 'Essex Sedan and will go to De-
troit for it on Thursday.
Milvert and Evelyn Reid of Ashfield
spent the week -end 'with their aunt,
Mrs. W. R. Farrier.

Sorry to report that Mr. Jas. Laid-
law, Sr, has been very ill for some
time.
Quite a number from this commun-
ity attended the concert in Wingham
in Friday night.
A lot of United States citizens along
the banks of the Mississippi river are
not likely to be ardent, supporters of
Chicago's endeavors to take an in-
creased amount of water from t he
great lakes. They could do very
nicely without the xo,000 feet per
second flowing down Chicago's drain-
age canal
