Panel of the United Church was Bele!
last Sunday and the following . off-
icers were elected for neXt year: -

tower for missions and temperance,
Louise Martin, Muriel Purdon, Irwin

Mrs. Henry McGee and Gordon
spent 'Wednesday last with her sister
Mrs. C. Campbell of Belgrave.
Mr. Victor Casemore of Cargill,
spent the week -end with his brother,
Ernest of Kinloss.
Mr. Robert Fergie has
the past two weeks.
Mr. Tilden and Mr, Aldin Purdon
of Leamington, were in this commun-
ity over the week -end for a load of
loose apples.
About thirty ladies gathered at the
nine of Mrs. Wesley, Leggatt on
Friday :last for the monthly meeting
of the Women's Institute. The meet
ing opened, with Mrs, T. H. Moore
in the chair: After the opening ex-
ercises, several items of business
were brou;lit before the meeting.
The ladies decided to ask the Junior.
Farmers of Lucknow to present their
play in the hall on Friday, December
30th. If they cannot come, they will
hold. a euchre that evening. For. the
winter months the meetings, -will be
held in the Hall. Each member re-
sponded to the roll call by giving a
gift for the Children's Shelter in Wal-
kerton, and many useful and. Christ
massy things were handed in.
The following' program was then
given: A Christmas Duet sung by
Misses Lettie Fox and Agnes Gilles-
pie; piano duet "Over Hill and Dale"
by Misses Dorothy Pollock and, M.
Wilson; a Christmas reading by Mrs.
Gibson Gillespie, and a paper from
Miss Olive Terriff ort Ilhiess, its
causes and' remedies for these. The
president, Mrs. Grain moved. 'a 'vote
of thanks to her for her contribu-
tion. -After singing the national atr-
thetn lunch zeas screed. and a social
half-hour spent. Miss T'erriff ended
her paper with theselines
