BELGRAVE \Women's Institute Hold Meeting A very interesting meeting of the Belgrave branch of the Womcn's qn- stitute was held at the home of Mrs. Stewart Procter, on Tuesday of last week. There was a splendid attend mice. The president, Mrs. C. 12. Coul- tes, presided. The roll call "Say, sing Dr Pay," was well responded* to. A report of the convention at Walker- ton was given by Miss Cela Coultes. An instrumental number on the...pi- ,aao` 1iy Mies Velma Wheeler, was 1 Mr. Monteith ,t 11,1 .spent a few Imucli enjoyed. The dist _•silent, Mrs.' Gordon Bissett, •Guclerich, gave izt very interesting and helpful address on the subject, music. Miss Nora VanCamp sang a solo. Lunch was served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. F. bJcCal- lum, Miss Martha Armstrong and Mrs. C. R. Coultes and a social time enjoyed. Owing to so many com- munity activities during December the meeting is cancelled for this month. Barn Destroyed by Midnight Blaze A very disastrous fire occurred on Thursday night just after midnight, when the barn on the farm of W. I' Armstrong on the 6th line Mor- ris, about two miles from Belgrave, w s,, completely destroyed by fire. A • :i;bip of young people were spend - • .the evening at the home practis- a iYgplay for Christmas, when it was discovered that the barn was completely enveloped in flames. .All hurried, out and were succesful in saving all the live stock excepta few pigs. The binder, buggy and' har- ness were also saved, but the barn and contents, driving shed, car, and implements, were destroyed. Neigh- bors gathered and managed to save the; henhouse and fowl in it, }Low the fire started is a mystery as no one had been at the barn after 7 o'clock when everything appeared to be all right. Mitch sympathy is ex- tended to Mr. and' Mrs. Armstrong and family as he has been' in poor health for over 'a year, havingbeen badly hurt in an accidentt',` his farm when the teairt ay with the binder.
