Ebenezer Church Anniversary
Services
The anniversary services in con-
nection with Ebenezer church were
held on Sunday. The clear sunshine
and the bright autumn tints added
greatly to the success of the services
and when the time to commence the
service had arrived the church was
filled to capacity. The special speak-
er for the day was Rev. Mr. Moore-.
house, pastor of the Brussels United
church who delivered most forceful
anniversary messages at both servic-
es. In the evening Rev. A. E. Mann,
pastor of the congregation, was pre-
sent and assisted in the service.
The choir renderedappropriate
musicand were assisted by Mr, Alan
Ramsay of Wingham, whosang a
solo at . the morning service. The
church \was attractively decorated,
the altar rail being banked with flow-
ers.
Mr. and Mrs. John Bosman of Dut-
ton, spent the holiday with- his par-
ents, Mr, and Mrs. Bosnian of Brown

Knox Church Ladies' Aid & W.M,S.
The regular monthly meeting of the
Ladies' Aid of Knox Presbyteiiana
church was held on Thursday after-
noon at - the home of Mrs. Foy Tur-
vey. The weather conditions were
very unfavorable and kept several of
the members from being present; The
president, Miss Olive Scott, presided.
Several items of business were ear -
tied throught, the most important be-
ing, 'plans fora chicken pie supper.
The meeting closed with singing and
repeating the Lord's , pray'er in uni-
son.
The W. M. S; of the church met, the
same afternoon with the president,
Mrs, P. S. MacEwen, in the chair.
Scripture reading, a prayer was talc -
en by Mrs, Falconer and Mrs. Ed-
munds. The supply department re-
ported having forwarded the comp-
lete allocation. Mrs: Eldrid Nichol'
was appointed . delegate to the sect-
ional meeting to be held at Eadies'
church on Friday, Oct. 14th. Mrs.
Harold Lawson gave a most graphic
account of the work that is being ac-
complished by missionaries and chris-
tian workers in the Guollier Mission
and the Bhil Field in India. After
singing a beautiful thank -offering
prayer, the president closed the meet-
ing with prayer. At the close of the
meetings the hostess served a tea
and a social time was enjoyed. Mrs.
Lawson favored the ladies with a vo-
cal solo during the social period. The
November meeting will be held at the
home of Mrs. F. S. Edmunds.
Many will be pleased to know that
Miss Eunice Thornton, a pupil of the
public school received first prize at
the Wingham Fall Fair for a hand
made apron. The work was beauti-
fully done and Eunice deserves credit.
Mr. and Mrs. Kauffman and son,
from Waterford, are holiday visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. L. Kauffman.
Miss Nellie McKinney of Clinton
Hospital staff is visiting her brother,
William, and Mrs. McKinney.

spending the holiday with his father,

Miss Barbara Thynne of Palmers-
ton, is visiting friends and relatives
here. •
W. A. of the United . Church Hold
Meeting
The regular monthly meeting of
the Woman's Association of the Un-
ited church was held on Thursday
afternoon .at the home of Mrs. Alex.
MacEwen with thirty-fiveladies pre-
sent. The president, Mrs, Joseph
Breckenridge, presiding. The regu-
• lar business was transacted. Miss
, Beatrice Thornton favored the ladies
with two vocal solos. During the af-
ternoon the ladies did some mission-
ary quilting. The hostess, assisted by
Mrs. Will Abram served refreshments
and a social time was enjoyed.
Communion service was observed
in the Presbyterian church on Sunday
morning. The pastor, Rev. Wm. Pat
terson conducted the service, Mr.
Kauffman of Waterford, assisted the
choir and sang the solo, "My God
and Father while I stray". Next Sun-
day Mr. Patterson will preach anni-
versary services at Cranbrook, and
the Rev. W. A. Williams will occupy
the pulpit here and at Eadies.
The regular services were with-
drawn in the United Church on Sun-
day owing to the anniversary serv-
ices being held at Ebenezer. Rev. A.
E. Mann occupied the pulpit of the
United Church, Brussels.
Miss Muriel Thornton, Toronto, is
a holiday visitor with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. George O. Thornton.
Mr, and Mrs, C. Hetherington and
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Gallaher
young son, Billy, are spending a
days with relatives at Brampton.

BOXLA SCHEDULE
The Three -County League will op-
erate a Box Lacrosse Group again
this fall. The teams in the group will
be the same as in the spring: Wing -
ham, Harriston, Palmerston and Clin-
ton. The first half of the schedule
has been drawn up, but the game be-
tween Harriston and Palmerston on
Oct. 5th, was not played, and it is
expected will be played later. The

Thumb Nearly Severed
Mr. Anthony M. Diemert, of this
village met with a painful accident
at the foundry on Tuesday afternoon_
He was operating the edger, when
the piece board which he held in his;
hand slipped and his thumb came in.
contact with the rapidly revolving
saw. The thumb was almost coni= -
pletely severed above the first joint.
Mr: Diemert will be laid off work for
