Mission Band Tea in the basement
of the United Church and quilted the
quilt which the young folks had
made, lunch was served and a pleas-
ant half-hour was spent.

at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter
Leaver.
Mrs. Jas. E. Robinson and Fran-

The regular August meeting of the
W.M.S. of the United Church, was
held inh
t e school room on Tuesday
afternoon, and owing to the absence
of the President, Mrs, S. Hethering-
ton, the vice-president, Mrs. George
Thornton, presided, The meeting
opened by singing hymn "Oh, Son
of God Incarnate," and prayer by the
vice-president, and the Scripture les-
son from Romans, chap. 12, Several
papers along the line of missionary
work, interesting and instructive,
were read by membe-s of the society.
Mrs. Mary Robertson was appointed

Mist Mary Collie. After singing "1

closed by all rep( ating the Watch-

Presented With Shower
A pleasant time: was spent last
Wednesday evening at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Turvey, 2nd
Con, Morris, when a large parey of
friends and neighbors gathered to
extend best wishes to their eldest
son, Lloyd, who was recently mar-
ried to Miss Elva Hemmingway, of
Brussels, a former school teacher in
the section. The young couple were.
presented with a misceilane,ous show-
er of kitchen utensils, linen, china,
silver and crystal ware, all useful and
beautiful. The evening was spent in
dancing, Mr. and Mrs. Turvey will'
reside in Blyth, where Mr. Turvey
has a bakery business.
Mr, and Mrs, Frank Fair and fam-
ily, of Ancaster, spent Sunday with.
George and Mrs. Thornton,
George Taylor was the guest of
his aunt, Mrs. Alex. Mowbray, over
Sunday.
D. J. Falconer attended the funer-
al of his uncle, the late Mr, McInnis,
at Whitechurch, on S.unday,.
Mr. and Mrs, Richard Johnston,

day at the home of Mr, and Mrs. G.

Coultes, Listowel, motored to Ham-
ilton to meet. Dr. and Mrs. Edgar S.
Coultes of Philadelphia. Miss Coul-
tes will return to Toronto and C. H.
Coultes will accompany his brother,
John, to Philadelphia where ' he will
receive medical treatment.
Mrs. Dougal Fraser and Mrs. Jos.
Lovell, of Wroxeter, and Miss Ann-
abelle Fraser, of Pilot Mound, Man.,
called on friends in the village this
week.
