Miss Margaret Thom returned on
Friday to her duties at the Guelph
General Hospital after a two weeks'
vacation at her home here.
Much sympathy is felt for Mr.
and Mrs. John Turner and family in
the loss of their little son, Albert,
on Tuesday morning. Little Albert,
who was about three years old, had
only been sick a few days with what
proved to be spinal meningitis.
Fridayevening marked the end of
theinteresting contest that has
been held in the ,;Young People's
Society of the United Church. The
losing side, with Miss - Edith Durnin.
as captain, entertained: the winners,
whose captain was Miss Dorothy
Munn. The basement was fittingly
decorated for St. Patrick's Day and
an Irish program had been arrang-
ed. Mr. Lorne Woods presided and
gave .some information about the
patron saint of Ireland. -A sing -song
of Trish songs with Mrs. Phillips at
the piano was enjoyed. A piano
solo by Laurine Miller, violin mus-
ic by Mary Rutherford andIsobel
Miller, -a ladies' chorus by y Mr.s. G.
Stuart, Mrs. Earl Gaunt, and Miss
Helen Miller and a men's chorus by
Messrs. Harvey Webb, Gordon 'Mc-
Pherson, Ted Hoare, Elmer Woods
and Loine Woods, and a duet by
Kathleen Thom and Laurine Miller
were all well given. Several inter-
esting and amusing stunts and con-
tests give variety and mixed the
splendid crowd. A bountiful lunch
and the singing" of Auld Lang Syne
brought the evening_ to a close. Such
has been the success of the contest
that plans are being iiiade for an-
other one to start in the nearfut-
ure.
