' The regular meeting of the W. M.
`S. was held in the schoolroom of
the United Church, on Thursday,
March 17th, with the President,
Mrs. C. Hetherington, in .the chair,
After singing the hymn "0, sacred
Head once wounded" prayerwas of-
fered by Rev. A. Mann, followed by
the Scripture reading. Minutes of
the last meeting were read and ap-
proved. The Easter program was
observed after which the leaflet
"Youth and the New Day" was read.
Mrs. R. Shaw being the leader; lst
reader, Mrs, G. McDonald; 2nd,
Mrs, G. Gannett; 3rd, Mrs. A. Shaw,
4th, Mrs. 5. Fell. The Devotional
leaflet, "Thomas, The Man of
Moods" was read by Mrs. Curtis.
Mrs. G. Thornton read a part of the
3rd. chapter of the Study Boole and
Mrs. G. McDonald will continue the
chapter at the next meeting. After

funeral of his aunt, Miss Annie Ni-
cholan, in Elora, on Monday. Many
old friends will remember Miss Ni-
cholan, when he lived. with her
brother, the late' Mr. Henry Grain,

BELGRAVE
The March meeting of the Bel -
grave Women's Institute was held
at the home of the President, Mrs.
C. Coultes, on Tuesday, •March 15.
The attendance was good; consider-
ing the rather severe weather. The
roll call was well responded to, by
giving uses for waste paper, rags or
old hosiery. The four captains ap-
pointed- at the last meeting in
charge of a contesi to sell trim re-
maining cook books,, reported' quite
a number sold. The ,officers are
hoping to have that item' of work
completed by the annual meeting;
the remaining number are, being
sold at 25c per copy. The treasurer
reported an encouraging balance in.
the bank which wilt be on hand to
commence some worth ' while wad
in the spring. Two committees were
formed to continence arrangements
for the district annual to be held in
Belgrave in June. A letter was sent:
to St; Augustine branch,' asking for
their assistance and co-operation at
that meeting, which Was willingly
ffered,
A beautiful letter of appreciation
was read from Dist. fres, Mrs'. W.
ll. Feld of Swastika, Northern On-
tario,. to whom they relief quilt was
sent at Christmas, Rev. A, M. Gattnt
