gathered in the.basement of United
Church and 'spent a social evenin
together, Rev, Mr: Mann acting a
chairman, a- good program was give
consisting of recitations, 'solos, read
ings and musical ,.:selections, afte
which two` • young -men, Wilso
Thornton and Norman' Barnard wer
called to the front and presented wit
certificates from the Royal Human
Society for the saving of a life (Wm
Townsend) in the Maitland rive
here. Congratulations are extende
to these two 'boys. After this, Mr
and. Mrs. Jas. Masters' and Tamil
were called' to the front, and present
ed with a pair of beautiful parlo
chairs, Robert a -table'lamp, and Ha
zel and Evelyn with' a beautiful silk
bed lamp. The following address was
read by Mr. Mann:
To Mr. and Mrs. Masters and family:
This gathering of church members
and adherents has been called to wish
you Godspeed on the occasion of you
leaving .Bluevale and the fellowship
and work of our' church. We shalt
miss you sorely, Your life and work
amongst us, and'with us has endeared
you to us and• will not soon be for
gotten. You leave behind you on the
life of this church, 'and the commun-
ity, lasting impressions of lives well
lived, and, duties fulfilled.' We trust
that in your new home 3rou will find
congenial: spirits, and enjoy much
happiness. Because of our high es-
teem and affection for you and our
desire to express this esteem and af-
fection in some tangible way wa ask
you to accept from us these gifts we
feel sure will often remind you of
those ties which bind ns to you, and
you to us.

Windsor after spending a week at
the former's home.

called on friends in the village last

The Harvest Honie Service of the
Anglican Church was well attended
last Sunday. Rev, W. 13. Hawkins of
Forest, a former Rector, had charge
of the seri-ice while the choir of St.
Mark's Brussels, assisted with the
singing and was much appreciated.

Ruth Cole has returned to
Stratford to complete her course at
the Central Business College.

hold their annual meeting at the
home of Mrs. Allister Hughes on
Monday afternoon, October 5th, at• 2

Mr. Mac Inglis finished threshing
on our line last Saturday. Mac says
he has four weeks' threshing to 'do
yet.

ver and Gordon McGee spent two
days in London during fair week.
Mr. John Small who has not been
in these parts for over fifty years,
carne from his home in North Bay
last week and visited with his sister,
Mrs. A. Emerson and Mrs. Emerson,
Miss Lila and Alfred took, hint to
Tavistock on Sunday to visit with
another sister, Mrs. Peppier,
Rev. Mrs.',14fundell and two child-
ren of Detroit, are visiting with her
brother, Mr.` F. McK. Paterson.

can, spent Sunday with her mothe

Mrs. A. Reid is visiting in Luck -

Mr. Albert Gallaher had the misfor-
tune to have his barn destroyed by
fire last Thursday morning. His. sea-
son's crops and hay were all burned,
The cause of the fire is unknown.
Mr. Robert Bennett was confined
to the house last week with an attack
of pleurisy. We are .glad to report
him to be better,
