The annual flower show under the auspices of the. Horticultural Society was held in Memorial Hall on Thurs- day afternoon and evening with a lar- ge display and variety of blooms, The Gladiolus display was a special feature and many of the best types were shown such as. Champion Boyn- ton, Roy Albert, Fritz Trumpet and many other standard varieties. Sev- eral musical numbers were rendered by the Misses Mills and the Blyth orchestra, A dainty lunch was ser- ved. Owing to the harvest activities the attendance was not as large as former years, but' the exhibits in ev- ery line measured up to the high stan- dard of former years. Taking it al- together the 1931 Horticultural Show was a success socially and financially. An old and highly esteemed and former resident of this district passed away at Exeter on Sunday, August 23rd, in the person of Mrs. Charles Harvey, formerly Mrs. John : Mills.
