GORRIE
Thereunionof the Armstrong fam-
ily was held at the, home of Dr. Jas,
Armstrong, Gorrie, on Friday, July
29th, with eight brothers and sisters
out of the ten being present. A very
delightful days was spent and a very
interesting program was carried out
with the President James Armstrong,
in the chair. Speeches by Dr. J. Mc -
Ash of. Tara, also Dr. W. J.M. Arm-
strong of Mithcell, duetts by Mrs. E.
Houghton of London and Mrs. Scott
of Blyth, were enjoyedby all present.
The meeting closed by all singing
"Auld Lang Syne," and "God be with
you till we meet again." It was ar-
ranged to hold the re -union at the
home of Mrs. Scott, Blyth, next year.
There was a splendid attendance at
the induction of the Rev. Gordon
Butt in the Gorrie United Church on
Friday evening. • Rev. , Lane, Acting
Moderator, of Seaforth, was in the
chair. Rev. Smith of McKillop, ad. -
.dressed the minister and Rev. Cum-
mings, of Walton, the people.
Mrs. Fred Irwin of Toronto, visit-
ed with Gorrie friends over the holi-
day,
Miss Ruth Galbraith of Fordwich.,
spent the week -end at her house here.
Mr. Ben Scott of Toronto, was the
week -end guest at the .homes of Mr.
and Mrs. Edward Galbraith, and Mr.
and Mrs. W. J. Gallaher. •
Mr, and Mrs, H. V. Holmes and
Miss Perkins, are spending their va-
cation at their cottage at ' Bruce
Beach.
The Misses Heinbecker, of Dunn-
ville, are visiting their aunt and. un-
cle, Mr, and Mrs. R. Brown, north
of Gorrie.
Mr. Spencer Ashton who has been.
employed as mechanic in Moosejaw
for •the past number of months, is
visiting his parents, here, for a time.
Quite a number from here attended
the races held in Goderich on Mon-
day. ,.
Mr.. Harry Brown of Elora, spent
a few days with Gorrie friends last
week.
Mr. and Mrs, Quinn also Mrs. Hall
of Toronto, were holiday guests of
Mrs. W. R. Hastie.
Music in the R
Messrs. Sandy and Donnie . Hestie
of Toronto' spent the week -end with
their brother, Mr. Kenneth Hastie,.
Miss Marie McMillan of Listowel,
is visiting her grand -parents, Mr, and
Mrs. Richard Magrath.
Mr: and Mrs. Thomas McLaughlin
and. fatnily of Weston, are the guests
of Mr. and Mrs, J. Hutchison this
week.
The Gorrie Community Choral So-
ciety commenced their training again
on Monday evening under the dir-
ection of Professor Hoadley of Lis-
towel. These classes were with-
drawn for the month of July when
Mr, Hoadley was in London taking
a special course in music.
Miss Verna Osborn spent Sunday
at the home of her parents, at Monk
ton.
Mrs. W. C. King and son, Earl, are
spending a few days this week with
the former's sister, Mrs. T. McDon-
ald, at Molesworth.
Misses Mary and Catherine Lutton,
of Toronto, are visiting their aunt,
1Virs. Thos, Earl, at present.
Mr, and Mrs. Hall of Toronto have
been visiting at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. John. Hyndman and other
friendsin the community for a week
or so.
Miss Ethel Hyndman of Toronto,
spent the holiday with her parents,
here.
Miss J. P, Stinson spent the week-
end at her home here..
Mr. and Mrs. H. Irwin of Long
Branch, spent the holiday with the
former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.
A. Irwin. Miss Lucille Irwin, who
has been visiting her grandparents,
returned home with them.
Mr. Charles Phair of Toronto spent
the week -end with his mother here.
Mr, and Mrs. George Anger and
daughter of Listowel, visited with
Gorrie friends over .the week -end.
Mr. arid Mrs. R. G. Dane and dau-
ghter, Betty, accompanied Mr. and
Mrs. W. J. Gallaher to Goderich one
day last week.
Miss Myrtle Short, of Toronto,
spent the week -end at her home here.
Mr. J. H. Short, of Toronto, visit-
ed with friends here over the week-
end.
Mr, and Mrs. David Hardy of Wes-
ton, is visiting this week with Mrs.
Jas. King, also Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
King, and other relatives.
Rev. Williams of Ethel occupied
the pulpit, of the Presbyterian' church
here on Sunday.

falling and fracturing two bones in
his left wrist.

Mrs. E. Chapman of Hamilton, and
Mr. W. Pearson of Waterdown, call-
ed on friends in town over the week-
end.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie McIntosh, of
Leamington, were guests of Mr. and
Mrs, Fred Kitchen recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Merton Howe and
family motored up from Toronto to
spend their holidays with the form-
er's sisters, the Misses Howe. On
Saturday night Mr. Howe was taken
seriously ill and the doctor was call-
ed in, who had him taken to Wing -
ham Hospital where an operation for
appendicitis was performed. At pre-
sent the patient is progressing fav-
crab]y.
Mr. and Mrs. Perry Patterson and
fancily of Niagara Falls, are visiting
friends. Mr. Patterson's mother,
Mrs. John Patterson has not been en-
joying good health lately.
Mr. John Mclturney has returned
from the West after a short visit.
Mrs. George Leckie of London vis-
ited her, mother, Mrs. Morrison, dur-
ing the past week.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Wray and Mr.
Crawford and Miss Joyce Wray, of
Toronto, visited Mrs. John Wray,
Mr. and Mrs, Arnold Edgar and
family, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Edgar,

tended the Women's Institute meet-
ing held at the hone of Mrs, Sellers
on July 30th. Mrs, C. C. Ramage de-
lighted the ladies with her talk on
"Interior. Decorations," while Miss
