The SaEvation Army
THE HELPIG HAND
In a small towh, about two hundred miles from Toronto, three
girls, in their early 'teens, became possessed of an overwhelming de-
sire to see life in a big city. In the absence of other means, they
decided to "hike" it, and slipped away without a word to parents or
friends. Three days later, a gentleman phoned The Army and told
of seeing three young girls on the city streets, hungry, penniless and
friendless. An Officer soon had the three seekers for adventure safe
in The Army Home.
The anxious parents were advised of their whereabouts, the
money was raised for their transfers, and they were soon on their
way to "home, sweet home." One shudders to think what might have
happened if ;there had been no "Arany of the Helping Hand" at the
critical moment.
Simply one incident where the Army of the Helping
Hand was ready at the necessary moment. If you
would like to help them in this work the local Officer
would be glad to hear from you during the Annual
Self Denial Effort: Write or phone
