"MY BEST GIRL”
That is the appealing title of our next great
aerial story.
Kathleen Norris wrote it. That in itself is
a guarantee that it is human, appealing, intensely
interesting story about people of the kind we all
knows
"Maggie Johnston" the "Best Girl" of ..the
story, works in the "Five -and -Ten." Her father is
a letter -carrier. Her mother feels that she has mar-
ried beneath her. Her older sister "Liz" works in
a beauty parlor.
Not much romance in Maggie Johnston's
life you would say --but Maggie finds it --finds it
right in the "Five -and -Ten." You'll love Maggie
and you'll like "Joe" the boy who brings romance
into the little shopgirl's drab existence.
Don't amiss the first instalment of this great
serial story. It begins in this paper this week.

EASTER
BEHOLD What
manner of LOVE
the Father hath
bestowed upon vs
that we should be called the Sons
of God (and such we are.)
Therefore the World knoweth us
not because it knew Him not.
Now are we the
SONS • OF GOD
and it doth not
yet appear what
we shall b e ;
but we' KNOW
that when H E
SHALL APPEAR.'
we shall be like
HIM: for we shall
see HIM, as HE is
I John III: 1 2
Easter, the happiest .holiday this
old world knows! The Resurrection
day! Life ' from . the dead, from the
dust Tenderness triumph!
Past is Gethsemane with its an-
guish, past Calvary with its crown
of thorns, past the stillness of the
Garden bought by Joseph of Arima
thea, past the chill of the tomb in
which no man had lain before, past
the pain that was the price He paid
in full when thechastisement of our
peace was laid upon Him.
EASTER, the great Day, First Day
of the week, first in the glorious dis-
pensation of forgiveness, and that
friendship between Divinity and hu -
inanity, founded like the wall of the
City Beautiful, on "a Jasper stone
clear as crystal"—the words of the
master: "Greater love hath no man
than this, that a. man lay down his
life for his friends,"
' EASTER pulses with life, typifies
life. "Christ is risen" sings the choir
invisible, "He is risen indeed, Hallel-
ujah!' tYf .And earth, with her greeting
fields, her sap -stirred woods, her sun -
kissed seas, her valley, hills and all
her tender growing things, swells the

Resurrection
Son.
"Life Lrfe from the
dead!" the tall white lilies sing, and
show their hearts of gold. "Life from
the dead!" the mosses creeping aver
myriad graves, the daisies •sta.rring,
all the gloom, the columbines with
honey -laden bells, the rose—that
flower of fragrant breath --these, ,and
milli«iismere, swell the chorus;
ohorus; "Life from the dead!" Each
blade of grass sings glory, the whole
Earth is full of 1 --Xis Glory!

NO SUNDAY
RADIO ADVERTISING
A step in the right direction was
taken by the Canadian Association
of Broadcasters when it decided up-
on elirninationof all advertising from
radio programs broadcast in Canada
on Sunday, other than the mention
of the sponsor's name, address and
nature of business. Further the asso-
ciation decreed that week -day pro-
granis after 7 p,m, should not include
advertising to exceed five per cent,
of the time on the air of any one
program. In view of the prominence
Which radio broadcasting is likely to
receive at the next session of the
Federal Parliament;; this action on
the part of broadcasters should be
taken as evidence of a sincere desire
on their part to eliminate undesirable
features such as over -emphasis on ad-
vertising, and it may forestall immed-
iate adoption of the. Aird report
which recommended nationalization
of radio broadcasting.
An Awful Eyeful
The devil sends a wicked wind
To blow the skirts knee high,
But heaven is just, and sends the dust
To fill the bad man's eye.
Raked Ham "
Many women like to =serve' ham on
Easter Sunday. The following is one
way of preparing it deliciously. Boil
a half or whole smoked ham until
tender. •Never let the water boil, but
keep the water simpering, and give
the ham a long slow cooking. Let.
it stand over night in the water in
which it was cooked. Then remove
the skin and rub the fat surface with
brown sugar, rubbing it as much as
it will absorb. Stick the fat with
whole cloves, at frequent intervals.
Bake in a very moderate oven for
about an hour. "Be sure that the oven
is not hot, as the brown sugar will
scorch readily.
If you like a sweet with your meat,.
and it is a pleasant custom, try bak-
ing fruit with the ham. Add quar-
tered bananas, slices of canned pine-
apple, or canned apricots, 15 minutes
before removing the ham, and let
them brown slightly, Serve the fruit
on the platter with the ham, as a gar-
nish,
Chocolate •Dessert
1 1b. chocolate wafers
pint whipping cream
Whip cream. Sweeten and flavour
to taste. Line a leaf, cake tin with
wax paper. Place the wafers incl the
whipped cream, in alternate layers in
the cake tin, until all are used. Let
stand over night or for several hours,
in the refrigerator, or in a cool place,
Turn out and slice with a sharp knife.
This is a delicious dessert, and has
the advantage that it may be made
the clay previous to using.
"Why did the doctor bring me a
baby sister, nurse, when he knew I
wanted a brother?'
"Well, he happened to be out of
boys."
"WeII, I could have waitedfor a
few weeks,"
Fortune does not smile on those
who wait. It laughs at them.

"More important than all the deliberations of the
industry are.the family councils on the performance
of cars, the atmosphere of service stations and the
courtesy of salesmen. Millions of daughters, mothers,
sons and fathers are writing the future of the auto-
motive business around the ,reside—with no one
there to plead the case of the nzanufacturer,:car, or.
dealer.. And the verdicts are final." Motor Magazine.
The verdict, with relation to cars priced between
$1290 and $2900, is clear-cut and conclusive:
More than fifty out of every one hundred buyers •of
eights in this field choose the Straight Eight 11-
McLaughlin-Buick,
yMcLaughlin-Buick, while the remainder divide their
purchases among 14 other .retakes. And eighty-eight
per cent. of McLaughlin -Buick owners—almost nine
out of ten—return to buy McLaughlin-Buicks again
and 'again.
Owing to their popularity the present models of
1931 McLaughlin...Erlich Straight Eights will be con,
firmed throughout the corning summer and fall.
