spending some time with her brother,

spent Tuesday last with Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Purdon.
Mrs. Roy Patton of Lucan spent a
day last week with her mother, Mrs.
Fox.
Mr. Will Shaw of Toronto, who
was in Lucknow on business last
Wednesday spent the evening with
his mother-in-law, Mrs. MacGregor,
and other relatives here.
Quite a number from here attend-
ed the sale at the fartn of Mr. Wm.
Campbell on the 12th of West Wa-
wanosh. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Forster
have purchased the farm and will be
moving on soon. a

Mr. and Mrs. John Craig.
Mrs. Walter Lott visited On Friday Catharine Ross.

last week hi Rochester, where he at-
tended the funeral of his brother-in-

Rev. Mr. James, whp for many
years preached in South Kinloss
Church, Lucknow, passed away at his
hoini in Ailsa Craig, and is being
buried in Greenhill cemetery Monday.
He leaves to mourn him, his widew.

Mr, and 3/A. Archie Patterson and
family spent Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Taylor. Mrs. Tyler has
been suffering from a severe attack
of asthma and has been under the
doctor's care,
Quite a lumber of neighbours
spent a pleasant evening on Friday
at the home of Mr, and Mrs, Herb,
Pettapiece.
Mr. Robert 1V19wbray has the con-
tract to build the stand -pipe in Luck -
now, Mr. Peterson is going with him
to work on the job and the others
will be em.ployed from Lucknpw.
The cars started to come through
from Wingham last Saturday, and al-
though the roads are not in very
good condition, they still continue to
come.
Mr. Roy McGee of Wingham is at
the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Henry McGee, this week, working at
the syrup.
Don't forget the concert in the In-
stitute Hall on Friday, March 27. The
program will be in the form of a con-
test, with Miss Grace Richardson and
Mrs. Ezra Scholtz as leaders.
Mr, and Mrs. John Falconer spent
the week -end at 13luevale with Mr.
and Mrs. Willie Falconer.
Mr. and Mrs A. E. Pardon spent
Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Fal-
coner.
Miss Winnifred Farrier of Ripley
arid Mr. Garnet Farrier spent the
week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Johns-
ton of Cedar Valley, and found no
snow in those parts at all.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson
spent Tuesday last at the home of
his mother, Mrs, A. Emerson.
Mrs. John McInnis received word
that her mother, Mrs. Malloy, of
SkalloW Lake, was very low, and she
went there on Thursday morning.

Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Ely-

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pardon of St.

the Literary Society, will be held on
Wednesday evening, April 8th, in the
Foresters' Hall. Owing to the roads
bneaking up the committee thciught
it advisable to hold this meeting a
week later than •usual. A good pro-
gram is being arranged which will
be announced next week. Don't for-
get the date, April 8th.

Drew held a very successful banquet
on Wednesday evening when they
fed about fifty, after which an excel-
lent programme was put on by Sa-
lem and Drew. Drew League will
hold their next meeting at Mr. and
Mrs. John Miller's, on Tuesday even-
ing.

cality are making maple syrup,
Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Irwin spent
a day with Mr. Gordon Irwin last
