Communication from the Ontario
Township Roads Association received
and filed.
Two other communications, one
from the U. F. 0. organization, Tor-
onto, asking for the co-operation of
the Council in requesting the Domin-
ion Government to appoint some
members in sympathy with the agri-
cultural interests on the Board of
Directors of the Can. Nat. Railways,
which met with the entire approval
of the Council; also from the Ontario
School Trustees and Ratepayers As-
sociation, suggesting a meeting of
the Council, School Trustees and all
interested in rural educational mat-
ters, to consider the new regulations
that are now affecting rural school
sections. A meeting of this nature
will be held in the Foresters' Hall,
13elgrave on Thursday, March 5th at.
1.30 o'clock, when all parties inter-
ested are invited to attend
Inspector Beacom and others will
be present end address the meeting.
The Clerk was instructed to for-
ward a letter in the form of a peti-
tion to the Department of Public
Highways strengthening the resolu-
tion passed by the County Council,
requesting that the ath and 9th con-
cession road be again reverted to the
County.
Economy being the watchword all
along the line for this year and fol-
lowing the example set by some of
the neighboring- municipalities the
Council went on record as approving
of a reduction of $10 in salary of the
Reeve and $5.00 for each Councillor.
For this year $70 will be the Reeve's
allowance, -and each Councillor will
be satisfied with $50.00.
The Auditor's report was presented
and adopted on motion of Campbell
and Walker. This report shows total
receipts for the year ending Decem-
ber alst of $52814.78, and an expendi-
ture of $51,270.98, also uncollected
taxes at that date of $1449.84.
At this function the Clerk on be-
half of the Council read an antprop-
riate address to F. Anderson, the cap-
able and veteran treasurer who after
a continuous service of 35 years, is
retiring- from that office, and to which
Mr. Andreson feelingly replied.
The Collector reported that in the
neighborhood of $500 of taxes re -
