'The: annual meeting of the W.M.S.
of Brick United Church was held in
the church on Thursday, December
11th, at 2.30' p.m., with ,the president,
Mrs. Robert Coultes in the chair. The
meeting was opened by singing, and
the Lord's Prayer was then repeated
in unison. The Scripture lesson was
read by Mrs. Stewart McBurney.
lvtrs. Coultes gave a paper, which was
followed by a reading by Miss Beat -
1 rice Beecroft. Both Mrs. McBurney.
:and Mrs. Chas. Shiell gave short pa-
:pers. The Secretary -treasurer gave a
'report of the last annual meeting, al-
so stating that the allocation had been
!met. Mrs. Coultes resigned her posi-
t tion, so she was then .elected to take
charge of the election of officers for
'1931, which resulted as follows; H.
Pres., Mrs. Scobie; Pres,, Mrs. James
Dow; Vice -Pres,, Mrs. Stewart Mc-

ors at the home of Robt. Chamney,

Miss Olive Tiffin is visiting with
her aunt, Mrs. Badgely of Brussels.
Quite a number 'of men are busy
in the bush of Mr. Joe Tiffin and al-
so in Mr. Orval Tiffin's bush getting
out cedar posts, for .two car -loads,
which they have sold to Mr. Fred
Thompson of, Toronto. The posts and
alsorailroad ties are being sent to
the C.N.R.
Dr. and Mrs. Balfour of Lucknow
spent Sunday here with the latter's
another, Mrs. Alec. Reid.
Mrs. Garry Stewart of Manitoba,
is here visiting with her sister, Mrs.
John Clubb, and her brother, Mr. T.
Inglis.
Mr. Millan Moore returned to High
School on Monday after being ill at
his home here last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Patterson and
family of Lucknow were visitors at
the' home of her parents on Wednes-
day.

Farrier of Ripley spent Saturday with
the latter's parent's, Mr. and Mrs. W.
R. Farrier, and installed a new radio
as a Xmas gift for the family.

Quite a number gathered on Wed-
nesday evening at the home of Mrs.
J. G. Gillespie ; to honour ,Miss Ger-
trude Martin before her approaching
marriage and presented her with a
miscellaneous shower of beautiful
gifts. Afterwards they all repaired to
the Institute Hall where Baines were
played and lunch was served and the
young folks spent the evening in
dancing.
Many in this community were sur-
prised to hear of the death in Wing -
ham of Mr.' Patrick McGlynn, a. form-
er resident of E. Wawanosh, ,having
farmed' for many years on the 10th,
near Fordyce. •He leaves to mourn
him, besides his widow, one daughter.
This community extends sympathy to
the bereaved family. He wasburied
in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in
Wingham on Monday morning:
