Miss Bertha MacKay of Stratford
spent the week -end here, also Mr.
John MacKay, Chatham, and his sis-
ter, Mrs. Garanger of Guelph ,and Mr,
Dan MacKay and his wife and son
Donald, returned home with them.
The folks from the West, i.e., Mr.
John MacKay, Mrs. Chas.,Markel, and
Ruth and Charlie ,and Mrs. George
Markle, and two children, left for
their homes near Kennedy, Sask., on
Tues, after spending a month with
their parents and other relatives here,
We wish them a safe and pleasant
journey.
Mr. Thos. Henderson was In Tees -
water on Friday attending the funeral
of his cousin, Miss. Margaret Hender-
son.
Rev. and Mrs. J. Pollock returned
from their wedding trip to Quebec on
Tuesday last, and Mr. Pollock preach-
ed in Wingharn Presbyterian Church
on Sunday and Rev. Kenneth McLean
had charge of the services on the
Whitechurch circuit.
Rev. H. Wright of the United
Church leaves on his vacation this
week and Mr. Angus MacKay will
have charge of the service here next
Sunday. The people of the United
Church will be pleased to hear Mr.
MacKay before he leaves for his work
in India at the end of this month.
Mr. and Mrs. Robt. MacDonald and
son of Holyrood visited on Sunday
with Miss Catharine Ross.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Parsons and
Parsons and children is staying with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs, Mac Ross
for a few . weeks but the others- re-
turned home on Monday.
Miss Ann Matheson and Wilbert
and Clayton Grainger of Garrie visited
on Sunday with Mr .and Mrs. Mac
Ross.
Don't forget the regular monthly
meeting of the Women's Institute
which will be held at the home of the
President, Mrs. Robt. Ross on Fri-
day. The roll call is; a current event
of the month, and Mr. Foster Moffatt
of Kinloss, 'former M. P. will address
the meeting, and the President will
demonstrate the making of scones.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cox were in
Clinton .on Sunday and Monday re-
newing old acquaintances among the
161st Battalion.
Miss Luella Laidlaw spent last
week at the home of her aunt, Mrs.
Robt. Laidlaw of Kinloss.
Miss Lorna McClenaghan of Wing -
ham spent the week -end and holiday"
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben
McClenaghan.
John Boyle spent several days last
week threshing wheat .for "Mr. John
Webster, and Frank Vatiner of Wing -
ham trucked the grain to Howson's
mill.
Mr ,and Mrs. Thos, Gaunt and Har-
old and Miss Kate McKenzie R. N.
motored to Orillia one day last week,
where the ladies td'ok the train for
North Bay. Mrs. Gaunt will stay the
month with her ;sister.
Last week -end Mrs. Walter Lott
visited with relatives at Galt. and Mr.
and Mrs, Eli Jacques and Wilfred vis-
ited with Mr. and Mrrs. George Jac-
ques of Preston.
Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Falconer and
children and Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Fal-
coner and Lois visited over the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. Elgin. Wel*
wood of Caledon and Charlie Falconer
who had been holidaying there, re-
turned home with them.

Grandmothers Present Program
The monthly meeting of the Wom-
an's Association of the United Church
was held on Thursday afternoon at
the home of Mrs. Robert Musgrove,
conducted by the President, Mrs.
Nellie Scott who opened the meeting
by singing an appropriate harvest
hymn, followed by scripture reading
and prayer.
The program was presented by the,
grajidmothers of the society. -Read-
ings were given by Mrs. Breckenridge,
Mrs. John Fell, Mrs.E. Barnard, Mrs:
Robt, Shaw, Mrs. Will Nicholson and
M-rs. W. J. Johnston. Miss Norma Mc-
Kie of Montreal recited in a very
pleasing manner, "Nobody Cares for
Me,"
Mrs. Ed. Johnston contributed a
solo.
The roll call was answered by near-
ly thirty ladies.
Mrs, Rev. A. V. Robb closedthe
meeting with prayer.
Mrs. Nellie Scott and Miss Donna'
Smith Served refreshments.
Appointed Postmaster
Mr. A. D. ,Smith has received the
appointment of Postmaster at Blue -
vale. The post office equipment was
transfered on Thursday, August lst.
to Mr. Smith's general store.
Kenneth and Stewart Nichol from
near Brussels, Mr, and Mrs. Anthony
Doer and two grandsons ,and. Mrs.
John Doer of Cass City, Michigan,
are visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Breckenridge. Mrs. Doer is a cousin
of Mr. Breckenridge.
Miss Lillian Garniss, Detroit is vis-
iting with relatives here.

The Annual Meeting of the 13ible.
Society was held Wednesday evening
last week in the school room of the
United Church.
The meeting was opened with scrip-
ture reading and prayer by Robert
Shaw, after which the chairman, Rev.
A. V. Robb introduced Mr.. E. E.
Bruder of Hamilton, representative of
the Bible Society, who gave a fine
address on the work of the society.
Officers were elected for the com-
ing year.
