The Goderich Sailors played what
the local management have every rea-
son to believe was just an exhibition
game here Tuesday afternoon, the
Hurons coasting along to a 5-1 win
behind ;Johnny Colvin. The Sailors,
however, were under the impression
that it was a real league tussle though
how a club can default a game and
hope to continue in the league race
is a mystery here.

FOUNDRY LEADING
TOWN LEAGUE
Merkley's 13 - Foundry 12
On Wednesday .evening last week,
Merkley's pulled out a win over the
Foundry in a holty contested game.
The game did not produce any spark-
ling plays, but both teams played
steady ball, and interest and excite-
ment ran high when the gas pump
gang put 'on a rally in the last in-
nings and shoved three runs across
to win.
Fritzley and Duquette; Colvin. and
Groves.

Gurney's 12 - Merkley's 11
Gurney's added another win to their
credit Friday night at the expense
of Merkley's gang. Gurney's got an
early lead and kept adding theodd
run till the . score stood 12-5, when
Merkley's went to bat the last time.
A last inning rally netted the losers
six runs and the last batter grounded
out with a runner on third. This win
practically puts Gurney's in the play"-
offs.

Foundry 10,- Gurney's 9
The Iron Men got a strangle -hold
on first place when they defeated the
Woodworkers on Monday night 10-9.
This game was very close and was
anybody's game till the last inning,
This win put the Foundry well ahead
of the other teams. Lepard did the
twirling for Gurney's, while Lee. went
the route for the Foundry.

The competi.tion is getting keener
now as the end of the schedule is al-
most in sight, the scores of the last
three games showing how evenly the
teams are matched. Merkley's are the
only team who have much chance of
overtaking the leaders, as they still
have four games left to play.

PLAN TO BUILD
MIDGET CARS
What is probably the smallest au-
tomobile in Canada is being demon-
strated to dealers in Toronto by rep-
resentatives of a French motor -car de-
signer.
This midget car, seen outside the
Parliament Buildings, weighs only
1,100 pounds, and is powered by a 1 -
cylinder motor which develops 20
horsepower at 4,000 revolutions per
minute, It will be marketed at $325.
Negotiations are being conducted to
float a company with a capital of
$75,000.
The single -cylinder power plant,
which is mounted directly over the
front axle, provides front -wheel trac-
tion. Conventional differential axle
and three -speed transmission complete
the unit.
Capable of 65 miles an hour, the
midget car has gasoline mileage. of 55
miles per gallon. The sample car at
presents in Toronto has travelled 13,-
000 miles. It is the only one of its
kind in existence, as it is a custom-
built job constructed by the designer
for demonstration purposes.
