night last. •Three sets competed for

Mr. 'eines Strong recently of Pan-
ama who has been visiting at his home
here for the least .ten days, left on
Saturday for Chicago, and the Pacific
Coast, where he will spend a month
or six weeks: Mr. Strong has been
.stationed at Buenos Aires, S. A. to
which place he will sail shortly after
returning from the Coast.

Mrs. John Ferguson and grand-
daughter, Miss Jean Morwick of
Guelph were guests this week of the
former's granddaughter, Miss Everett
Sparling and Mr. Sparling.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Jefferson and
daughters of Owen Sound are spend-
ing a few days with Mrs. Jefferson's
parents, Mr. 'and Mrs. George Foster.
Mr. and Mrs. Zimmerman of Mil-
verton spent the week -end with their

The July meeting of the Evening
Auxiliary will meet at the home of
Mrs, John Cathers on Friday even-

Mr. Thomas McKee of Toronto,
spent a few days last week visiting
friends in this vicinity:
Messrs Norman Wade, George
King, H.V. Holmes and Roy Strong,
as well as representatives from Fo.rd-
wich and. Wroxeter, were in Walker-
ton on Tuesday of last week, where
they met Bishop Seager with regard
to the new minister for this parish.
There has not been any appointment
made by the Bishop as yet.
Mr. Wnt. Montgomery who has
been visiting relatives in Grand Val-
ley, returned home last week.
Mrs, Isabel Morrow of Detroit is
spending some time with her sister,
Mrs, Robert Ferguson, and other rel-
atives, Mr .and Mrs. Harry S. Bene-
dict and, three children of Detroit
were also Saturday visitors at the
same home.
Lois Cadwell of Guelph is visiting
her cousin, Mrs. Percy Ashton.
Guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Holm-
es on Thursday last were: Canon R. J.

OBITUARY
Ronald Huth
The sympathy of the community is
extended to Mr. and Mrs. Wrn. Huth,
13th' Con. of Howick in the loss of
their little five month's old son, Ron-
ald who died very suddenly on Fri-
day morning last.
Although apparently in its usual
health when his mother gave him a
bottle of milk for breakfast, when
she carne into the room some minutes
later, he was dying. A large number
attended the funeral which was held
Sunday afternoon,

ick on Friday, July 12th to honor him
on his' 80th birthdayand to enjoy a
picnic together.

camp strikers left Winnipeg bound
for Kenora on their way to ask. for
better conditions, Mounted police
trailed them through Manitoba.

any interruption in their departure,
can be seen. At Lockport, Manitoba,
on the Kenora road, Constables Tay-
lor and Gunn of the R.C.M.P. exam-
ined the car of Sam Wolfe, Sher-
brooke St,, Winnipeg, who drove
three strikers to Kenora against ord-
ers, The police are shown in (2) as
they talk with 'Wolfe, but although
they apparently carried guns, they did
not prevent either Wolfe or another
car carrying strikers from proceeding
to the Ontario town.

Engagement of Former School Tea-
cher Announced
An engagement which is of special
interest to the people of this village
and which was announced last week
is that of Miss Anne Grace Little,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Little,
of Teeswater, to Mr. Samuel Jeffer-
son, son of Mrs. Christena Jefferson,
of Auburn, Ont. The marriage to take
place early in August.
Miss Little was for four years on
the staff of the public school here.
Women's Institute
The July meeting of the W. T. will
be held on Thursday, 25th, at the
home of Mrs. Thomas Brown. There
will be an address by Miss Mary Pope
the subject to be "The Children's
Shelter." The Roll Call, a Donation
for our county Shelter at Goderich.

An all -members meting of the W,
M, S. of the United Church was held
in the school room on Thursday af-
ternoon, July 11th, when the presi-
dent, Mrs. t. Stocks, presided.
The devotional period was in charge
of Mrs. W. S. McKercher, and the
hymns used were: "T3eneath the Cross
of Jesus", "In the Cross of Christ
Glory" and "Breathe on Me Breath
-of God." The Scripture passage was
an exhortation to praise God, based

OBITUARY
Margaret Proctor
There passed away in London Sani-
toriuni on Monday of last week, Miss
Margaret (Peggy) Proctor, who had
been a patient there during the past
two months. She had been in failing
health for some time, and two years
ago came from Winnipeg to make her
hotn4 with her sister ,Mrs. Harvey
Dane.
The funeral was held on Wednesday
afternoon, a private service was con.-
ducted
onducted by Rev. R. S. Jones. The pall-
bearers were Messrs Philip and Har-
old Durst, George and Wesley Paulin
and Andy and Art. Gibson. Interment
was made in Wroxeter Cemetery.
STEVENS ANNOUNCES

New Party Called Reconstruction
Party.
The new Reconstruction Party with
Hon H. H. Stevens at the helm un-
furled its banner in the 1935 general
election campaign with planks in its
platform covering many phases of
Canada's economic and social- prob-
lems.

In a 4,000 -word manifesto, the
fourth alignment in the Dominion
political arena made public its recon-
struction and reform proposals. The
announcement setting forth a 15 -point
plan with auxiliary proposals was
made after Mr. Stevens had conferred
with members of the party's provis-
ional executive.
The fifteen points are as follows:
1. Work for youth of Canada.
2. Self-sustaining public works.
3. National housing program.
4, Uniformity of wages and hours
throughout Canada.
5. Legislation based on the recom-
mendations of the Price Spreads and
Mass Buying Conitnission and the es-
tablishment of a Federal Trade and
Industry Commission.
6. Reduction of interest rates to 6
per cent. on mortgages. Paying off
national debt in twenty-five, years
through development of natural re-
sources.
7. Nationalization of the .Bank of
Canada.
8. A Dominion Agricultural Board
to direct marketing.
9, increased taxes on large incomes:
