TIGERS ARE CHAMPS
Anglican Tigers are worthy champ-
ions of the Gorrie Softball League.
The two final games swung the tide
of battle in their favor, having four
victories as against two losses. The
Bengals defeated the Cyclones 10-8 in
a clean, well played game and then
the Whirlwinds from the 9th Con.,
turned on the power to beat the Maple
Leafs 26-20, and thus put the latter
out of the running. An unfortunate
mishap occurred in the latter contest
when Irving Toner and Clarence
Sparling crashed in chasing a fly ball.
Both received severe gashes on the
temple, each wound requiring three
stitches front the doctor's needle. Both
players retired from the game after
the mishap, but were at work again
next day.
The final standing is as follows:
Won Lost P.C.
Tigers .,...- ........................... 4 2 .667
Maple Leafs 3 3 500
3 3 .500
2 4 .333
Grenadiers
Cyclones
The promoters of the league are
gratified over the results obtained.
The players showed good sportsman-
ship and had. a tot of fun out of the
games, while the spectators were in
agony andraptures as good and bad
plays in the field were successively
made. If haying and harvesting oper-
ations hadn't interfered, and more
games played, the final standing might
have been different, who knows?
