ANSLEY Assistant General Sales Manager of General Motors Products of Canada, Limited. a Wingham "old boy", it is a very real pleasure for me to convey to you the good wishes of General Motors and, at the same time, thank those people of Wingham and district for their confidence in General Motors, indicated by the large number of cars' and trucks purchased by you each year. Although it has been many years since I left the old town, "gingham is still "home" to me, just as it was to my parents who helped build up the pioneer village of seventy-five years ago. You are all familiar with the work and results of the pioneers in 'gingham. You have shared in the building of a flourishing community. You have watched productive farms grow from sparse fields and rugged forest. In like manner, I have seen the pioneers of 'this great automobile industry over- come terrific odds through more than a score of years of association with General Motors of Canada and its predecessors, McLaughlin Carriage Company and McLaughlin Motor Car Company. Through this same period, I have watched apprentices develop into the finest craftsmen in their res- pective trades in this industry. I have watched these men mould and shape and build into these modern automobiles the finest material that it is possible to obtain and, at the same time, meet the exacting specifications and tests of the General Motors engineers. As a result, you have experienced the comfort, reliability and economy enjoyed in driving the Chevrolets, Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles, McLaughlin-Buicks and other General Motors cars produced in Canada. Year after year, the cars and trucks of General Motors have maintained first place in public approval and confidence. This preference is simply the 'remit of building into those products quality and crafts- manship that have endured the test of our times.
