The Young People held their meet-
ing Monday •evening, when the pres-
ident, Kenneth Cowan, presided, The
Fellowship cimmittee conducted the
devotional period. Rev, DeWitt Cou-
sins, of Clinton, was the guest speak-
er and gave a splendid address on the.
work of the young people i nthe Lon-
don Presbytery, and conducted a song
service which everyone enjoyed. Miss
Calara McGowan sang a solo. Dr.
Kilpatrick gave a violin selection ac-
companied at the piano by Mrs. Kil-
patrick. On rnotion of Miss Toll, a
hearty vote of thanks was extended
to the guest speaker.
There passed away early Tuesday
morning Minnie Farrow, beloved
wife of Mr. William Johnston, aged
64 years. Surviving are her husband
and four children: Laura of Vancouv-
er, B.C., Mrs. 011ie Johnston and
Mrs. James Fox, of Toronto, and one
son, Harry, of the Commercial Hot-
el. Funeral service will be held Wed-
nesday afternoon ,at her late home
conducted by Rev: R. A. Brook, pas -
to rof Queen St. United Church. In-
terment in Union Cemetery.
Died in Toronto, Monday, Dec. 3rd,
Mary Bell, widow of the late A. Tay-
lor, aged 82. Deceased was a sister
of the late Mr. John Tasham. The
body was brought to Blyth on Tues-
day and placed in the family vault
in the Union Cemetery. Mr. R. A.
Currie of Wingham, was in charge of
funeral arrangements.

Samuel Sherwood; councillors, Arthur
Culbert, Gilbert Frayne, Aex. Mc-
Donald. All three councillors are new
men. This is Mr. Matheson's third
term as reeve and Samuel Sherwood
has served several- years as a coun-
cillor.
Grey
Henry A. Keys was elected reeve of
Grey Township by a majority of 123
over John McNabb, former reeve. O.
Hemingway was elected deputy reeve
by a majority of 126 over Silas John-
ston. • Thomas C. Wilson, Walter
Broadfoot and Thomas Dougherty
were elected councillors.
Mildmay
P. D. L eisner,' Conrad Hill, Frank
Lobsinger and Louis Dienert were
elected to the council in the village
of Mildmay. Reeve F. X. Smith was
re-elected by acclamation.
Goderich Township
Wilmot Haacke, reeve of Goderich
Township for the past three years,
was returned for a fourth term by a
majority of nearly 300 over Frank
Powell, a member of this year's coun-
cil. Haacke had a majority in nearly
every polling subdivision . There was
no contest for council, Oliver Jervis,
Herbert Cox, Ben Rathwell and Har-
ry Corey being returned by acclama-
tion,

Listowel
J. F. Vandrick was re-elected reeve
of Listowel with a majority of 18 vot-
es over J. G. Burt. The vote was 559
to 541. The six councillors elected
were: F. G. Anderson 418, H. Shan-
non 438, Paul Dowell 538, A. Simp-
son 595, C. M, Scott 690 and Herb.
Zilliax 767. The three members of
the board of Education are: N. Bu -
chert 605, George Adams 573 and A.
W. Zurbrigg 500. The two who won
seats on the Public Utilities Commis-
sion were: H. Hamilton with 562 and
Thomas Burnett with 542.
Chesley
Chesley turned down a proposal to
open beverage roms by a vote of 601
to 375. The proposal to build a pub-
lic swimming pool won by seven.
