A very pretty August wedding was

ranbrook, cousin of the bride, was

ittle Eileen Vittie, of Gorrie, neice,
of the bridegroom, was daintily dress-
ed in white organdie and carried a
'basket of sweet peas, snapdragon and
ern. The bridegroom was supported
by Mr, Ewart Whitfield, of Gorrie.
During the signing of the register
Mrs. Milton Osborn of Mitchell and
Miss Alberta Holder of Ingersol, sang
a duet "When Your Hair Has Turned
to Silver."
Following the ceremony the guests
numbering about forty, and the bridal
•party, were served a wedding supper
;on the spacious lawn by four cousins
of the bride, Mrs. Nelson Dewing, of
Mitchell, Mrs. Norman McEwan of
Monkton, Miss Lena Noble of Han-
over, and Miss Alberta Holder of
Ingersol.
Later Mr. and Mrs. Cathers left on
a motor trip to Ingersol and eastern
daces, For travelling the bride don-
tied a swagger quit of cream flannel
with accessories to match. They will
reside in Gorrie. Guests present at
the wedding included, Mr. and Mrs.
Wesley Cathers, Hamilton, Mr. and
Mrs. D. Cathers, Gorrie, Mr. and Mrs.
Andrew Campbell, Stratford, Mr. and
Mrs. E. J. Holder, Ingersol, Mrs. C.
Pfeifer, Mitchell, Mn and Mrs, J.
Noble, Mr. and Mrs. A. Campbell, of
Cranbrook.
stitute, .which was held on Friday of

well pleased with the display of bright
serviceable dresses. Owing to the 'ill-
ness of the Instructress' mother, Miss
Rolston was *nable to remain for the
display, During the Friday morning'
sewing class, a little social time was
held for pupils and teacher at which
time Miss Nellie Inglis and Miss Er-
ma Harris extended a very hearty
vote of thanks to Miss Rolston.
Ladies' Aid Held Monthly Session
The regular monthly meeting of
the Gorrie Presbyterian Ladies' Aid
was held on . Wednesday last at the
home of Miss Mable Irwin. The Pre-
sident presided over a well -arranged
program, and conducted items of bus-
iness. Following the closing of the
meeting the hostess served dainty re-
freshments.
Rev. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Tay-
lor, Mrs. R. Magrath and Miss Marie
McMillan visited with Mr. and Mrs.
H. V. Holmes at their cottage at
Bruce Beach on Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. K. Hastie and daugh-
ter, Edith, also Mrs. R. Hastie, of
Toronto, were Sunday guests of Mr.
and Mrs. W. Elliott at Wroxeter.
Mrs. Leckie has returned to her
home in Lucan after spending some
time with her brother, Mr. H. Neill.
Mr. H. Hopper, of Wingham, had
charge of the service in Gorrie Unit-
ed Church on Sunday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Esser, of Toronto,
visited at the home of Reeve and
Mrs. Gamble on Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Grainger and
son spent Sunday at Bruce Beach.
Mrs. Gordon Underwood. spent the
week -end with friends in Stratford.
Mr. Percy Colmer, of Toronto,
spent the week -end with Mr. and Mrs.
E. King. Miss Clara King returned to
Toronto with him, after spending a
week with her parents.
Recent guests of Mr, and Mrs.
Cleve Stafford were: Mr. Walter Staf-
ford, Lansing, Mich.; Dr. Evans, Miss
Carol Evans and Miss Ester Trewar-
tha, of Clinton. Miss Ruth Evans is
a guest at the same Home this week.
Mr. Toner, Mr. and Mrs. J. Hynd-
man are visiting friends in Toronto.
Dr. and Mrs. Armstrong, of Mit-
chell, visited. last Thursday with Mr.
and Mrs. Isaac Wade, also Dr. and
114rs. J. Armstrong.
Dr. and Mrs. Austin Neeb, and
daughter, Mr. Walter Neeb, of De-
troit, spent the week -end with Mr.
.Adam Sipple. Mr. and Mrs. George
Cook of Erin, were Sunday visitors at
the same home.
Mr. A. F. Ross and bride of Mont-
real arrived home on Monday and are
spending a few days at the former's
home. They were accompanied by
Mr. and Mrs. H. Jessamin who are
guests at the same home.
A reception was given Mr. and Mrs.
Ross at the groom's hone on Mon-
day night, when about twenty guests
were present. Beautiful gifts were re-
ceived by the bride and groom. Miss
Evelyn Stephens was present and
rendered splendid selections during
the evening.
Mrs. Leppington,. of Harriston, 'is
the guest of her daughter, Mrs. Ar-
thur Stephens.

INTERESTING SESSION
GORRIE
Mr, and Mrs. Percy Tyreman, of
Brussels, Miss Winona Frain and Mr.
Saverne Winer of Exeter, also Miss
Julia. Day of Gorrie, were Sunday
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Day,
-north of the village, on Sunday.
Mr. and. Mrs. Ira Hamilton and son,
Mr. and Mrs. Murray Hamilton and
sons, all of Toronto, spent the week-
end with their mother, Mrs. H. Ham-
ilton. Mrs. Murray Hamilton and sons
remained for a couple of.weeks' va-
cation. Miss Alexandria Hamilton re-
turned to Toronto with her brother,
where she will visit for a week.
Miss Gwendolyn Hall of Toronto
is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Fred
R3yndman.
Mrs. Ellis and Mrs. V. Shera visit-
ed on Saturday with Mrs. Peter Rich-
ardson, in Listowel.
Mr. Douglas and Miss Annie spent
Sunday with the former's son, Clark-
son, in Hamilton,
Mrs. Barton and daughter, Marlene
also Miss J.. P. Stinson,- visited with
their aunt, Miss E. Burns, at Macin-
tosh last week.
Mr. Harry Ardell, of London, spent
the week -enol with his cousin, Mrs, S.
Munro.
Mrs .Hockridge and daughter, Miss
Marjorie, returned to their home in
Guelph on Sunday after spending the
past couple of weeks with the form-
er's sister, Mrs. R. Grainger.
Recent guests' of Miss Kate Earn-
gey were: Mr. and Mrs. Chamney and
son, Vern, of Belgrave, Mr. and Mrs.
Ashby and daughter, Miss Audrey of
Toronto.

EVENING AUIXLIARY
The Evening Auxiliary of the Unit-
ed Church met on Monday evening at
the home of Mrs. A. A. Taylor, Gor-
'tie, with 20 members and friends pre-
sent.
The programme was in charge of
Mrs. Russel Grainger, wh.9 opened
the meeting by singing the Doxology
followed by the Lord's Prayer in uni-
son. After singing "Work for lead night is coming." Mrs. Carson
iii responsive reading, the 1Scppture
lesson being Psalm 8; followed by
Miss Evelyn Dane leading in prayer.
Hymn "Blest be the tie that binds"
was then sting, after which Miss Bes-
sie Wylie read an interesting article.
entitled "A Modern Parable." This
was followed by the devotional per-
iod being taken by Miss Marjorie
Baker when she read a very vivd

Bingham Young, who was born al
Bradford, Ont., and who went with
Tier husband to the Hodson Bay dis-
trict as missionaries. The article dealt
with items of interest of this great
woman's life work, and gave a few of
her harrowing experiences.
Owing to the Pastor and his fain
being on their vacation, no chap-
ter of the Study Book was given. Miss
Evelyn Dane took charge' of the bus,.

Cut fish into
pieces for .serving.
Dip in salted milk, using 1 tablespoon
of salt for each, cup of milk. Evapo-
rated milk may be used. Dip into
finely ground' or rolled ' corn flakes.
Arrange 00 well-oiled baking sheet
and sprinkle liberally with oil. Bake
in a very hot oven (500 degrees, F.)
for about ten minutes.
Eggs Golden Rod
6 eggs
2 tbsps. butter
4 tbsps. flour
14 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
2 cups milk
6 Whole Wheat Biscuits
Put the eggs in cold water in cov
ered pan and bring slowly to the boil-
ing point. Remove' froom heat, keep
pan covered, and allow the water to
cool. When cool, the eggs will he
matching firm, but tender.
Separate the cooked whites and
yolks. Chop whites. Melt butter
double boiler. Add flour, mi
seasonings and stir to a smooth
diction.
The hostess served dainty refresh-
ments during a social half hour.
