there on Saturday and spent the week-
end. with relatives here, theformer

the latter with Mrs. Herson Irwin.
Mr, Angus MacKay, returned mis-
sionary from India, took the services
very acceptably here in Chalmer's
Church on Sunday morning and also
at Langside and Calvin.

Forest spent the week -end with her

have been visiting with her parents,

The officers and their wives of the
Turnberry Agricultural Society held
a very successful meeting at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Henry last
Tuesday evening, The various conlm-
ittees were kept busy during the even-
ing revising the Fall Fair list, and
made some interesting changes. Lun-
ch was served and a : social time eeel-
joyed, • Mr. I. Wright of Turnberry
thanked thehost and hostess for the
use of their home and for their con-
tinuous interest for the welfare of the
Turnberry society, and Mr. Benson
Cruikshank seconded Mr. Wrights
motion for a hearty handclap. Mr
Henry responded, saying he thought
if the society continued to show as
much enthusiasm in the future as they
had that night, its future was assured.
All joined hands and sung, "for they
are Jolly good fellows"
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Coulter and
Flora, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ross
and Kenneth and Donald, spent Thur-
sday last with Mrs. Foster of Bay-
field.
Miss Olive Terriff and Mr. Mala
colni Ross . spent Sunday with Mrs.
Turner of Lucknow.
Many regret the serious illness of
Mrs. Chas. l.Vightman and hope to
hear of her unproved condition.
The Mission Circle is meeting on
Friday at the home of Mrs. J. G.
Gillespie and the mission, band are
holding a social on Saturday at the
home of Mrs. Bert Reed.
The Misses Doris, Eilein and Fay
McClenaghan were visiting last week
at the home of their uncle; Mr, El-
wood Barbour of Fordyce.'
Mrs. Bert Kennedy and children,
who were visiting with her sister, Mrs,
Lance Grain, returned to their home
in Toronto on Sunday.

field, who were ` succes`sful in passing
the piano examinations held recently
in Wingham in connection with the
Toronto Conservatory of Music. His.
entire class of eight students were
successful, and many received hon-
ours.

splendid work. Mr. Cook is well kno-
wn in Whitechurch where he contin-
ues to teach to many pupils and train
the choir of the United Church. Mr.
Arthur Oliver, the well-knowntea-
cher of piano at the Conservatory of
Music, Toronto, was the examiner.
Miss Nellie McGee of London has.
been in London Hospital where she
went through an operation for acute
appendicitis, two weeks ago. Her
mother, Mrs. Leask McGee has been
with her and they are planning to
return home this week,
Mrs. Goyeau, who spent the past
few weeks here with her daughter,
Mrs, Aldin Purdon, returned to her
home in Leamington last Monday.
Born—on Tuesday, July 24th, to
Mr, arid Mrs. Gordon Elliott of East
Wawanosh, a daughter.

picnic at Harbour Park,.Goderich, an,
Friday: Mr. and Mrs. B, S. Naylor,
Mr. and Mrs. George Naylor and son,
Mr. and Mrs. Sowter Taylor and son,
and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Naylor and
children of Chatham.
Mr, and Mrs. John Sobers and his
brother all from Ohio, have been vis-
iting with their sister at Blyth and
last week spent a day with old friends
on the 10th con,and admired the way
in which the Bethel cemetery had been
straightened up bast year. Her parents
are buried theee;
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Falconer and
family, and Mr, and Mrs. Jas. Fal-
coner and Loisvisited with Mr. and
Mrs. Elgin Welwood of Caledon for
a few days last week. 'Renison Stayed
to spend the holidays there.
Quite a large number attended the
community picnic at 'the 10th bridge
on Friday last. A. good program of
games and races was carried through
successfully, many went in swinxnning.

the buggy, it had been searched out
