Eadies' congregations was. held in
Knox Presbyterian Church, B1uevale,
on Wednesday afternoon for the pur-
pose of extending a call to a minis-
ter. Rev K. MacLean, Interim Mod-
erator,.•ot St. Andrew's Church, Wing -
ham, presided,
Rev. J. R. Greig, of Chatsworth,
was the unanimous choke of the
meeting.
David Fortune, Joseph Smith, Jas.
E. Nichol and D. 5, Falconer were a
coniniittee appointed who accompan-
ied by Mr. MacLean, have had a per-
sonal interview with Mr. Greig, and
the call will be considered at the

The 'regular, meeting of the Y. i';
S. of the United Church was held oe
Friday evening with Miss Donna
Smith in charge, Mr, Robert Shaw
offered the opening prayer. The topic
"How a Christian Should Spend.
money" was very ably taken by Car-
men Hetherington, and Carl Johnston
rendered a solo'in his usual pleasing
manner.
This was the closing meeting for
the season and will be continued again
in the fall.
After singing a closing hymn, Rev,
A, V. Robb closed the meeting with
Prayer.
Cornmunity Club Masquerade Dance
The. masquerade dance held in the
Foresters' Hall on Friday evening.
under the auspices of, the Community
Club was a brilliant success, The at-
tendance was large, the music, con-
sisting of violins, guitars and piano,
was quite up to the standard and the
costumes were beautiful and varied,
The judges, Mrs. 'Wade of Gorrie,
Mrs. Stuart ;MacNaughton, Wroxeter,
and Messrs. George Spiers : and J.
Amsbury of Stratford, found it a dif-
ficult task to make a decision. The
prizes which were awarded to mem-
hers of the club were as follows; best
dressed lady,"Mrs, Fred Hollenbeck;
best original costume, Miss Florence
Fowler, representing "Night"; best
comic, Mrs. Will Falconer, in the cos-
tume of a Negress, The prize for the
best dressed gentleman was won by
Mr. Roy Turvey. Mr. Leon Kaufman
as an Arab, wore the best original
costume, and Raymond Elliott, as a
clown was the best comic. Little Miss
Jean Stewart and Miss Betty Ann
Falconer were the youngest persons
in costume. Other worthy of special
mention were: Mrs. Roger Oke of
Wingham, as a Gypsy and Burns
Moffatt as a Page or Court Attend-
ant.
The club was organized in the Fall
and have been holding dances every
two weeks during the winter months
and have provided very enjoyable en-
tertainment.

dance on Friday night.
1l'Ir. Howard Stewart went to Tor-
onto this week to receive treatment
to the General Hospital.
Mrs. W. J. Johnston, Morris, and
Mrs. Milton Watson, of Corrie, visit-
ed this week with their father, Mr.
Thomas Stewart.
Mr .and Mrs. Harold Proctor and
daughter, Margaret, of Morris, Mrs.
Jennie Rolph, of Seaforth, and Mrs.
'Stanley, of Brussels, spent Sunday
with.Mr. and Mrs, Joseph Curtis.
Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Berry and Miss
Elsie Smith, of Brucefield, spent Sung

Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Gaunt moved
from their Kinloss home last week to
their new one on the 9th of E. Wa-
wanosh. The neighbours in that com-
munity welcome them.
Mr. Ezra Scholtz, who has been
Linable to work. this winter, hurt his
back at a woos' bee last week and is
again. unable to work,
Miss Ida and Mr. George McQtioid
have rented the house, owned by Mr.
Hawthorne, of Brantford; which was
vacated by Mr. and Mrs,' Ed. Gaunt
last week and will move into it the
first of May.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Boyd and little
daughter, Dorothy, of Listowel, spent
the week -end with her parents, Mr.,
and Mrs. Kenneth Weaver.
Mrs. 5. D. Beecroft and Florence
spent Saturday with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Andrew Kirk of Seaforth.
Mrs. Laura Cerighton and children
of Detroit, also Mr. and Mrs. Oliver

A golden wedding of interest to this
community was held on Monday;. Ap-
ril 9, at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Patterson of the 13th Con. of
Hullett, when his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Patterson, of Hullett, cele-
brated their golden wedding at the
home where they went when newly
wedded. Their far'uily of three daugh-
ters, Mrs. Harold Sprung of Londes=
boro, Mrs. Clarence Cox of White-
church and Mrs. Alec Manning of

ing east of Auburn in Wawanosh, and
Ernest' at home, and eleven grand-
children, were all present, and among
those who attended the first wedding
who were again present were: Mrs.
McBrien of Virhitechruch, Mrs. Brown
of Moncton, and Thos. Anderson of
Goderich. Their neice, Miss Olive
Sprung, R.N,, of Toronto, was also
present. About eighty guests sat

Mr. Wm, Patterson replied. The bride
and groom of fifty years, received
many beautiful gifts, among which
was a cabinet phonograph from the
family. The company enjoyed danc-
ing and games until the wee sena'
hours of the morning. Many in this
community will take this Opportunity
to extend to Mr. and Mrs. 'Patterson
their best Wishes for many more years
of happy wedded life.
The regular monthly meeting of
the W.M.S. of Chalmer's Church was
held on Thursday last with the Pres-
ident, . Mrs. Frank Coulter in the -
chair. After the opening exercises, the
Scripture readings were read by Mrs.

Miss Annie Kennedy and -sentence
prayers were given by Miss McQuoid,.
