gaged in newspaper work since grad-

Walter Naftel was a descendant of

familiesin this section of Ontario, his
grandparents, John Thomas Naftel,
and Its wife, coining from Guerneey;
Channel Islandsnearly a century ago.
He was an only sort of Daniel j. and
Anquetil Naftel, and. was born on the
Lake Shore Road nine miles south of

Goderich,• his parents retiring to God-

Collegiate Institute. He was a clever
