fortune to have a fork run into his
hand when at a threshing last week.
It has been quite painful but is re-
covering now,
Mr. and ntrs. Andrew Kirk of Sea-
forth, spent Thanksgiving Day at tlie,
home of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Beecroft.
Mr. Clarence Purdon, who is study-
ing to be a druggist in Goderich,
spent the week -end at the home of Mr
and Mrs. Jas. Purdon of St. Helens,
Miss Anna May Carrick of Listow-
el, spent the week -end with her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Y. Carrick.
Mrs, Frank Coulter and Alec, and
Miss Florence Purdon motored to
Hensall on Saturday and Mr. and Mrs
Wm, Purdon returned home with
them. We are pleased to report that
he has made a good recovery and his
arm nicely healed.
Sacrament Service was observed
Chalmer's Church on Sunday and Rev
Mr. Coughoun of Ashfield was pre-
sent and took part in the service.
Mr. and Mrs. John Falconer, who
have :been visiting at Caledon for the
past few weeks returned Borne on Sun
day. They were accompanied by Mr.
and Mrs. Elgin Wellwood and Miss
Annie Moore and Mr, Basil Thomp-
son of Caledon.

ped to England last Thursday, These

burn, spent Sunday with their parents

Fifteen carl loads of cattle fet from
Wingham last Thursday by special
train for Montreal, where they take
a boat for Liverpool. This shipment
comprised three car -loads from Ltick
now, contributed by Messrs. Kenny,
Bain Bros., McIntyre and McKinnon,
one careload from Gorrie, contributed
by Thos. Bradnock. There was 321
cattle in all, and these were all ship-
ped through Mr, Frank Thompson of
E. Wawanosh. Some of those who
contributed to' these carolads ,from
this district were Messrs. 'Wm. Rob-
inson, Wm. Henry, Dave Holmes, G.
Kinnahan, Michael Cummings, John
Mithcell, Wilfred McKague, D. For-
tune and D. Eadie and a great many
others with smaller lots. Ivl:r. Wilfred
IblcKague contributed the most, 58
head, Those who are accompanying
the cattle are Messrs. J. Mitchell, W.

W.M.S. and ,Ladies Aid Meeting
The W. M. S. and Ladies' Aid of
Knox Presbyterian Church, -held their
regular meetings on Thursday after-
noon last at the hone of Mrs. Alex,
Mowbray with a good attendance,
Mrs. Mowbray presided at the Ladies'
Aid meeting, .the main feature of bus
iness being plans for the annual hot
chicken supper. The President, Mrs.
Peter S. MacEwen, occupied the chair
for the W.M.S. meeting. Arrange-
ments were made for attending the
sectional meeting at Cranbrook on
Oct. 12th, also for the annual thank -
offering meeting. Mrs. E. 'McKerch-
Deaconess and Library Departments
er gave a splendid talk on the supply
of the W M S pointing out -the im-
portance of each. Miss Olive Scott,
Presbyterial Literaure Secretary,
spoke briefly of he excellent quality
of literature to be secured and its
value to the auxiliary, also recom-
mended passing literature on other
auxiliaries. The President closed the
meeting with prayer after which,,,the
hostess served delicious refreshments,
