e The W.M.S. of the United Church
visited the Salem Auxiliary on Fri-
day afternoon, The meeting was held
in the 'Church. An instructive paper
on the W. M. S. Homes and Board-
ing' Schools, was read by Mrs. D.
Weir, and a report of the W. M. S.
London Conference branch .meeting,
given by Mrs: Nay of Fordwich. At
the close of the meeting refreshments
were served.
OBITUARY
Mrs. L. F. McLaughlin
Early Saturday morning, after a
lingering illness, there passed away
at the home of her parents in Ford-
wich, Marian Hutchison, beloved
wife of L. F. McLaughlin, Oshawa,
formerly of this place.
Born in Fordwich in 1890, she at-
tended school there and later took a
business course in Toronto, holding
a responsible business position. She
married in December, 1914. She and
her husband lived for several years
in Swift Current, Sask. ;Shoe !ere-
Laughlin's health at this time began
to fail and the. best medical advice
gave rip hope' of recovery. Later
they returned to Ontario,: her u`sn-
dition gradually becoming evorse, un-
til for the last number of years ehe

The, funeral was held on Monday
afternoon. Following a private ser-
vice at the home of her parents tih,ere
was a service at United. Church in
charge of Rev. J. W. Button and
Rev. Dr. W. A. Mahood. Interment
was made in Gorrie Cemetery. The
pallbearers were three brothers, Art,
Clare and Harold Hutchison, a bro-
ther-in-law, Norman McLaughlin,
Elmer 'Fa11ts and Herb Rogers.

Miss Evelyn Gamble was handed a
signet ring and letter from the. Lad-
ies' Guild expressing their apprecia-
tion of her service at the organ dur-

ble has been teaching in tite Con-
tinuation School for the past two
years and is leaving to take her se-
cond year at Normal. We regret very
much Miss Gamble's departure,
