Singing Class Disbanded for Summer'
The singing class which has been

they have been greatly benefitted by

Peter S. MacEwen, Mrs. D. J. Fal-
coner and Miss Isobelle Fowler spent
a day last week in Stratford. The
ladies attended the Provincial annual
W.M.S. meeting o fthe Presbyterian
Church.
Mrs. Robert Shaw and. Mrs. H. L.
Bosman represented the W. M. S. of
the United Church at the County
Presbyterial rmeeting held, in Thames
Road Church last week. Rev. A. E.
Mann attended the meeting of Pres-
bytery held the same place on the
same date,
Mr. John Smith, A. D. Smith and
Miss Elsie Smith spent Sunday with
Mr. Smith's daughter, Mrs. Hugh
Berry, whois a patient in the Scott
Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, where
she underwent an operation for ap-
pendicitis recently. Her condition is
quite satisfactory.
Alex. Mowbray is at ]3ervie this
week putting a crusher in shape for
the season's work.
Mr. and Mrs, R. F. Garniss spent
Monday with relatives at Seaforth.
Women's "Institute Meeting May 11
The regular monthly meeting of
the Women's Institute will be held
on Thursday afternoon, May 11, at
the home of Mrs. C. H::therington.
Mrs. A. Mowbray will give a paper
on "Current Events" from the new
magazine "Canadian Comment." Mrs.
Hetherington willgive a paper that
will be of interest to all. Members
are requested to be present in order
that final, arrangements canbe made
for the meeting on May 18th,' when
Mrs, Laura Rose Stevens of Ottawa
will be the guest speaker. Ladies of
the community are always, welcome.

As the C. N. R. section gang is
malting Belgrave their headquarters.
Mr. Robt. McCrae, the foreman, is
moving to Belgrave to his own house
and Mr. Jas. Wightman and family
will occupy rooms in the hotel. Mr.
Wightman intends moving the first
of the week.
We are pleased to report that Mr.
John Wightman and Mr. Jas. And-
erson are improving.
Mr. Stevenson who did custom
sawing here, finished his work and
has moved the sawing outfit away.

The Lord's Supper was observed in
the Pres, Hall Sundayafternoon.
Mr. Wm. Mundell and Norman
Newans were the leaders at the Sun -
,day evening service in the United
Church.
The W, M. S. met Wednesday af-
ternoon at Miss Hakney's, with an
attendance of 10. The Easter pro-
gramme was used at this meeting,
after which Mrs. Wm. Abraham gave
a talk on Africa, also readings by
different. members. Collection, almost
$3.00.
Mr,' Steid 'of Drayton is expected
to give a lecture on his work in Af-
rica in the United Church Thursday
evening. This willbe accompanied
by lantern slides.
Mr. jack Reid and family are .com-
fortably settled in James Adams'
house,

of the villagers are under. way. Mr.
Wm. Curle and Miss Mabel Baker
are having new fences around their
property. Mr. Walters is having his
kitchen renovated.
