IRISH FREE STATE.
ELECTIONS, JAN. 24
Dublin; Irish, Free . State The
Government sprang a surprise with
the sensational announcement that it
had decided to dissolve the Dail Eir-
eann and to hold the :general elec-
tions January 24th.
The decision was takenat a pro-
longed Cabinet meeting, after which
President de Valera, whose Govern-
ment recently was assailed because
of its stand on civil service pay re-
ductions, informed newspapermen
that the Dail had been dissolved and
that the new Congress would meet
February 8th.
The president declared that the
country's attitude towards the Gov-
ernment's: program left no doubt that
the Government enjoys the confi-
dence of the electorate.
The farmer gathers what he sows;
the seamstress sows what she gath-
ers.
