Hensall Public School Concert
Splendid Success
A large crowd of parents and
friends gathered in the Town. Hall,
Hensall, on Thursday evening for
the presentation of the annual school
concert Mr. E. L Mickle was chair-
man for the evening and the pro-
gram opened with a chorus by the
school entitled "Deck The Hall" fol-
'owed by a welcome recitation by
Jean Lavender. An exercise by 7
'oovs entitled " For Santa might Hensall resident and oldest citizen
::now". A song by pupils of Mies in the village, celebrated his 96th
Michie'. room "Dear old Santa". birthday on Christmas Day and on
,Word has been received here that

rymple, Pte. Wm, Snow and Pte.
Gerald Campbell will ,arrive 'home
from, overseas on the Queen Eliza-
beth which is expected to dock at
New York about Dec. 26th.
Miss Minnie Reid spent Christ-
utas in London with Mr, and Mrs.
Joint Reid and fancily.
Miss Florence Schwalm of Lon-
don, spent the weekend with her
mother, Mrs, Violet Schwalm,
Christmas Sunday services were
•observed in Hensall United Church
on Sunday, conducted by Rev. R. A.
Brook who delivered a very impres-
sive address on the subject "A
Christmas Message." The choir sang
two anthems, "Christmas Jubilate"
and "Heaven's Glory Song." The
evening service took the form of a
beautiful pageant "'The Crusade at
Christmas." with about forty mem-
bers taking part, The entire pa-
geant was colorful and emphasized
the place of the crusader in the life
and work of the church, climaxing in
a challenge to dedication around the
manger of the Christ child. The con-
gregation and choir took part in the
singing of Christmas hymns and
carols. During the service White
Gifts were received to assist the
Christmas Cheer Fund for British
Children.
William Johnston
Miss Margaret Johnston of Hen
-
sal received a message last week ad-
vising her of the death of her only
brother, William Johnston, at Can -
ora, Sask. The deceased was born a
mile and a half west of Hensall,
attended school at S.S. 14 Hay,
Clinton High School and Stratford
Business College. Some years ago he
went to Manitoba and later to Can -
ova, where he operated a flour mill
and elevator. He was unmarried and
was a member of the Masonic Order
and a Masonic funeral was held on
Saturday. Surviving are two sisters,`
Mrs. A. T. Douglas of Hyde Park
and, Miss Margaret Johnston of Hen -
salt.

The bride who was given in mar-
riage by her father looked charming
in a street -length gown of orchid
crepe and carried a nosegay of pink
and white mums. Mrs. Ross Fineh of
Exeter, sister of the bride, was
bridesmaid and wore a street -length
dress of white and tan printed silk
jersey and wore a corsage of yellow
mums. Cpl. Ross Finch, brother-in-
law of the bride was groomsman.
Following the ceremony a reception
was head at the house of the bride's
parents, later, Mr. and Mrs. Gridzak
]eft on a short honeymoon. The
bride wore a finger-tip beige coat
with black accessories.

Hensall, on Wednesday, Dec. 19th.

days with relatives in Toronto, last

The annual Christmas entertain-
ment of officers and pupils of St.
Andrew's United Church Sunday
School was held on Friday evening
Doc. 14th with a real good attend-
ance. Rev. Mo. Hinton was chairman
for the evening, Christmas carols
veers first on the program, sung by
all present. A three act play en-
titled "Uncle Josh Perkins" was pre-
sented by Egmondville Y.P.U„ tinder
the direction of Mrs. (Rev.) Gardin-
er. Between acts several numbers
were presented by the children of,
the Sunday school, consisting of reel-
tattoo "Isn't Christmas Fun" by
Carol McMttrtoie. A chorus by the
beginners and primary dept. under
the direction of the teachers, Mrs.
.4. McMurtrie and Mrs. E. Ander-
son. Miss Marion and Warren Thom-
pson gave a piano duet. Little Ann
and Marie Sinclair sang two duets.
"Santa Claus is coming to town"
was sung by Jean Caldwell and Vir-
ginie McClinchey. Following the last
act, Santa Claus appeared"' and in
his usual friendly manner distribut-
ed bags of candy to all the kiddies,
from off the large Rm.as tree which
was also laden with many other
gifts. The National Anthem was
suns and all bird Santa farewell for
another year.

A meeting of the' electors of the
Township of McKillop will be held
at Winthrop Hall on Monday, the
31st day of December for the pur-
pose of nominating a Reeve and
four Councillors. Nominations will
be received from the hour of one
o'clock to two o'clock in the after-
noon.
In the event of more persons be-
ing nominated than are required to
fill the several offices, an election
will be held on Monday, the 7th day
of January, 1946.

of the Town of Seaforth, in the
Comity of Huron, deceased, Gentle-
man, who died on or about the 5th
day of December, 1.945, are hereby
notified to send in to the under-
signed on or 'before the 12th day of
January 1946 full particulars of
then claims.
Immediately after the said last
mentioned date, the assets of the
said estate will be distributed:
amongst the parties entitled thereto,
having regard only to claims of
which the undersigned shall then
have notice, to the exclusion of all
others, and the undersigned will not
be liable to any person of whose
claim the undersigned shall not then
have notice for the assets so dis-
tributed or any part thereof.
