Miss Minnie Reid spent Christ-
mas in London with Mr,. and Mrs,
John Reid and ,family.
Miss Florence Schwalm of Lon-
don, spent the weekend with her
mother, Mrs. Violet Schwalm,
Cluistmes Sunday services were
observed in Hensall United Church
on Sunday, conducted by Rev. R. A,
Brook who delivered a very impres-
sive address on the subject "A
Christmas Message." The choir sang
two anthems, "Christmas Jubilate'
and "Heaven's Glory- Song," The
evening service took the form of a
beautiful pageant "The Crusade at
Christmas." with about forty mem-
bers taking part, The entire pa-
geant was colorful and emphasized
the place of the crusader in the life
and work of the church, climaxing in
a challenge to dedication around the
manger of the Christ child. The con-
gregation and choir took part in the
singing of Christmas hymns and
carols. During the service .White
Gifts were received to assist the
Christmas Cheer ,Fund for British
Children.

Miss Margaret Johnston of Hein
sal received a message last week ad-
vising; her of the death of her only
brother, William Johnston, at 'Can -
Hen -a11, on Thursday evening for
the presentation of the annual school

mile and a half west of Hensall,
attended school at S,S. 14 Hay,
Clinton High School and Stratford
Business College. Some years ago he
went to Manitoba and later to Can -
ora, where he operated a' flour mill
and elevator. He was unmarried and
was a'member of the Masonic Order
and a iMasonic funeral was held on
Saturday. Surviving are two sisters,
lira. A.T. Douglas of Hyde Park
and Mise Margaret Johnston of Hen-
sel].

deeds for Huron County, has re-
signed her post and John M, Rob-
erts, former county clerk of Huron
and during the war an officerof the
air force, has been named' in her
place, Miss McPherson had held the
Pest for the past 11 years. She had
previously been assistant registrar.
The Huron County registry office is
located in Goderich.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff
Watson was the scene of a very
pretty donhle ring wedding on Sat-
urday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m, when their
daughter, Idabelle, became the bride
of Pete Peter Gridzak, R.C.A.S.C.,
of London, son of Mr. and Mrs,
Gridzak, of Sudbury. Rev. Albert
Hinton of St. Andrew's United
Church, Klippen, perforated the
ceremony and Miss Helen Rowe of
Exeter played the wedding music
The bride who was given in urar-
riage by her father looked charming
in a street -length gown of orchid
crepe and carried a nosegay of pink
and white mums. Alts. Ross Finch of
Exeter, sister of the bride, was
bridesmaid and wore a street -length
dress of white and tan printed silk
jersey and wore a corsage of yellow
mums. Cpl. Ross Finch, brother-in-
law of„ the bride was groomsman.
Following the ceremony a reception
was held at the home of the bride's
parents, later, Mi•, and Mrs, Gridzak
left on a short honeymoon. The
bride wore a finger-tip beige coat
with black accessories.

Exeter spent a week with parents,
l'Ir. and Mrs. C. Watson.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Ryckman of
Pollock. N. Dakota, U.S.A. spent
the weekend with the formers uncle,
Mr. and Mrs: Archie Parsons.
Mr. and Mrs. L. Sims are \1500-

treal. Mr. Sims is awaiting his dis-
charge from the R.C,A.F., after
some year's service overseas.

Mr: and Mrs. Archie Parsons and
family attended the golden wedding
anniversary of the'former's parents,
Mr. and tiles. Robert Parsons, in
Hensall, on Wednesday, Dec, 19th.
Mrs. Norman Long spent several
days with relatives in Toronto, last

The annual Christmas entertain-
ment of officers and pupils of St.
Andrew's United Church Sunday
School was held on Friday evening
Dec, 14th with a real good attend-
ance. Rev. Mr. Hinton was chairman
for the evening. Christmas carols
were first on the program, sung by
all. present. A three act play en-
titled "Uncle Josh Perkins" was pre-
sented by Egnrondville Y.P.U„ under
the direction of Mrs. (Rev.) Gardin-
er. Between acts several numbers
were presented by the children of
the Sunday school, consisting of reci-
tation "Isn't Christmas Fut" by
Carol McMurtrie. A chorus by the
beginners and primary dept. under
the direction of the teachers, Mrs.'
A. MOMurtrie and Mrs. E. Ander-
son. Miss Marion and Warren Thom-
pson gave a piano duet. Little Ann
and Marie Sinclair sang two duets,
"Santa Claus is coining to town"
was sung by Jean Caldwell and Vir-
ginia
irginia McClinchey, Following tete last
act, Santa Claus appeared and in
his usual friendly manner distribut-
ed bags of candy to all the kiddies,
from off 'the large Xmas tree which
was also 'laden ` with many other
gifts. The National Anthem was
sung and all bicl Santa farewell for
another year.
