The Royal Black Knights of
Huron County, also the members of
the L,O.B.A., and all the members
of the surrounding Orange Lodges
will attend divine service in the
Ontario Street Church; Clinton, next
Sunday evening at 7 o'clock. Rev.
Sir Kt. Wm. Mair of Thames Road
United Church will be the guest
speaker. A splendid service is ex-

Cameron. Mr. Cameron has recently
returned from overseas after five
years of service and Mrs. Cameron is
a recent bride froth Glasgow, Scot-
land. About 80 neighbors and friends
assembled and presented them with a
wonderful shower of household gifts.
A tastefully decorated basket was
wheeled in by Misses Anne and Marie
Sinclair and Messrs. John and Doug-

dress was read by Mrs. Gleam Mc-
Lean, and Miss Grace Trenleer and
Mrs, Morley Cooper assisted the hos-
tess with the gifts. Mr. Cameron
made a titting reply on behalf of him-

ter their kindness and expressing his
pleasure in being home again and a.
hope that in the future he might
establish a permanent home in this
locality. He also thanked the Kippen,
East War Charities for their gifts of
cigarettes and boxes received, while
overseas. As a special gesture of good
will Mrs. Cameron was given a set of
dishes by the Ifippen Women's Insti-
tute. After singing "For they are jolly
good fellows," Misses Anne and Marie
Sinclair sang a pleasing duet, accom-
panied by Mrs. J. Sinclair. A good
lunch was served and an hour of
dancing closed a very sociable
evening.

A welcome home reception for
Pt. Cannan Mogk, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Geo.Mogk of `Brodhagen, who
recently returned from overseas,
was held in the basement of St.
Peters Lutheran Church, Brodhagen,
on Tuesday evening. Pte. Mogk has
volunteered for the Pacific after a
30 day leave at his home here, The
evening entertainment consisted of
selections by the Brodhagen band on,
the lawn, from 3.30 to 9.30. The

man's Pen and Pencil set from the
community, by Mr. Wm. Bach, a
councillor of Logan Township. Also
a gift of a genuine leather bill fold
with initials engraved from the
Brodhagen Patriotic Society, pre-
sented by Mrs, Dalton Hinz, the
president of the Society. And a set
of military brushes in a leather case
from the Luther League of St.
Peter's Lutheran Church of which
he was member, was presented by
Mervin Dietz the president. Pte,
vrogk thanked the different organ -I
izations for the gifts and gave a
brief talk of his experiences. The
evening closed with a dainty lunch
served by the members of the
Luther League and the singing of
the National Anthem,
Able Seaman Oscar Diegel son of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry L. Diegel who
was unable to attend the presenta-
tion held two weeks ago also thanked
for the gifts of pen and pencil set
and billfold he received.

P.O. Thomas B. Melody returned
from two years' service overseas in
Africa, Italy and England, on Thurs-
day.
Lieut. Patrick J. O'Rourke, young-
est son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas 0'
Rourke, of the Air Fleet Corps, is
on his way to the Pacific theatre of
war.

On Friday evening, Aug. 3rd, at
six o'clock, the patriotic Society en-
tertained the boys who have re-
turned from overseas and those who
enlisted in this district, with their.
parents and wives at a banquet pre-
pared by the Woman's Association,
in the school room of the church.
Rev. G. F. N. Atkinson and the boys
'who returned from overseas sat at
the head table. Mr. T. B. Baird, on
behalf of the patriotic Society,
thanked the ladies for their help.
Miss M. McDonald president of the
W. A. replied. This was followed by
an open air program at eight o'-
clock.. The following program was
presented. Music by the Brucefield
orchestra, by Miss Eva Stackhouse,
Mr. Stewart Baird, Mr. Ross Diking,
Mr. Adam Wilson and Miss June
Murdoch,. Addresses were given by
the chairman, Mr. R. Scott, Rev. G.
Atkinson and Mr. J, K. Cornish,
Vocal solos by Mrs. 3. Cairns, a000n-
panied by Mrs. W. McBeath. A read-
ing by Mrs. H. Daman, instrument
al solo by Mr. Geo. Wilson, duet
by Mr. Ross Diking and Miss Hazel
Billing, accompanied by Miss June
Murdoch, trio by Mrs. A. Johnston,

man then asked Mr. Alex Paterson,
veteran of the First War, to the
platform.' Mr. Paterson called the
boys who had been overseas, to the

R. Aldwinkle, on behalf of the boys
thanked the Patriotic Society and
the people of the community for the
bonds and their kindness in remem-
bering thein when away from home.
The program closed with "God save
the King." Lunch was served to all
by the ladies of the community.
The Patriotic Society merits great
praise for the success of the even-
ing.

Mason and Miss Ethel Wilson, visit-

Mrs. S., Dutot returned to her
hone here on Saturday after spend-
ing two weeks with her daughters
in London, she was accompanied by
Miss Bessie Dutot, who spent the
weekend here.
