Mr, and Mrs, Melvin Moir were week end guests with Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Laing of Exeter at Turnbull's Grove, Bride -Elect Honored— A. very pleasant. evening was spent at the home of Mr•.• and' Mrs. R. Y. MacLaren on Monday when about fifty neighbors and friends gathered in honor of their daughter Margar- et, bride -elect of this week. The ev- ening was spent in contests, quiz and sing -song, directed by Mrs. NI. Dougall. Following this the bride- elect was invited to a decorated chair and presented with a crystal table lamp and clothes hamper. The presentation was macre by Mrs. Mal - Dougall. and Mrs, Robt. Elgie. Mrs. Norman Stanlake read the ae- companying address: "Dear Mai'gar- et,—We know that your apprpaching marriage will be one of the biggest events of your life, so we are hese tonight to honor and .congratulate you and to share your happiness. Although you have spent much of your life away from here you grew up in our midst and always took an active interest in the neighborhood and community. We are going to miss you and are sorry that your hone is to be so far away but we hope you will return to visit us from time- to- time. During the coining years we wish you and yours all the best of everything, health, wealth and happiness. As a token of our esteem we ask you to accept these gifts and as you use them from day to day xray they be a constant re- minder of your neighbors and friends. :Margaret replied, ex -press- ing sincere thanks and appreciation. Hayton of Delhi, were week end visitors with Miss E. Johnston. Mrs. B. Fisher of Toronto is a vis- itor with Miss F. Logan this week. Miss E. Johnston attended the fun- eral of her uncle, the late Mr. Jas. Dewar near Bayfield last week. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Coleman of London were recent visitors with Miss Annie Consitt and Mr. and Mrs Wesley Coleman, Mr. Cornelius Cook is enjoying a month's vacation with. Mrs. Cook and members of their family at their summer home at Grand Bend. Miss Margaret MacLaren, bride - elect was the recipient of a beautiful wall mirror, gift from the members of Carmel Presbyterian Church choir Miss Gladys Luker visited last week with Dr. and Mrs. A. R. Camp- bell in Guelph. Mrs. John Jackson;' who resides a mile and a half south of Hensall, observed her 89th birthday on Sun- da. She was the recipient of many beautiful flowers and cards. Mem- bers of her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren spent _ the clay with 'her. Addresses were giv- en by Reeve Shaddick and Dr, A. R. Campbell of Guelph and formerly chairman of the War Service Com- mittee. The following program was presented: A reading by Eleanor Veinier, dancing by Joyce Broderick, piano duet by Mrs. R. H. Middleton and Miss Florence Welsh. Solo by Mr. W. 0. Goodwin, accompanied by Miss Gladys Luker at the piano. Miss Greta Lamtnie played a violin solo accompanied by Miss Gladys Luker. Dancing was enjoyed to mus- ic by Murdock's orchestra. Mr. T. C. Joynt spent a few days this week in Montreal. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Parkins, accom- panied by Mr. and Mrs. Cline Flynn of London enjoyed a trip to the Parry Sound district this week, Mrs: Hannah Workman and Mrs. Norman Stanlake spent the past week at the home of. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Britton, Dublin, Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson,and family visited friends in Goderich.
