Miss Lois :McLaren, nurse -in training of the Kitchener -Waterloo Hospitals, visited this week with Miss Norma Sangster. Mrs. Annie Bossence and son Howard and Miss Elva Thomson of Toronto, visited last week with Mrs.' D. Walks and Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Kerslake. Mrs. Lorne McNaughton and Bar- bara returned home from a pleasant holiday in Toronto, F.O. Douglas Sangster, Hamilton, accompanied by T. 0. Robt, Long of Windsor, and F.O. James Wilson of Toronto are holidaying at the home of the former's mother, Mrs, Minnie i Sangster. Passmore's garage, Hensall, was threatened by fire on Tuesday morning when it is believed sparks ignited from the air compresser in the pit. The fire brigade was sum- moned immediately and the fire was , under control without any serious damage. Fractured Leg Shirley Chapman, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Chapman, had the misfortune to fracture her 1 leg on Friday. She was attended by! Dr. D. G. Steer, who placed the fractured leg in a cast. Farmer Burned While Burning Hay Mr, Thos. Sherritt well-known dis- trict fainter suffered painful burns to his aria while burning spoiled hay on his farm last week, He was on a load of hitt' throwing it on the bon- fire when the flames caught the load. In endeavouring to save the wagon he suffered severe burns. He was attended by Dr. D. G. Steer, Miss Norma Sangster visited last week with Misses Marion and Lois MacLaren in Goderich. Mrs. Duncan Stewart Mrs, Duncan Stewart a life-long resident of this district passed away at her home north of the village on Sunday in her 43rd year. She was born in Hay Township. her maiden name being Anna Bell. daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul BelL She was a member of Carmel Presbyter- ian resbytertan Church. Hensall. Surviving are her husband and one son, Murdoch Stewart. in Boston. two brothers, William and John Bell. of Hensall. Funeral service was held from the llama on Tuesday at 2 p.m., Rev. R. 11, Williams of Seaforth conducted the service, Burial in Hensall Union. Cemetery. Miss Dorothy McQueen of Lon don visited over the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Mc- Queen. Simpson returned to De- troit after spending the past week here with Mrs. Simpson, Bobbie and Billie at the home of his mother: Mrs, Lou Simpson. Miss Irene Douglas and Miss Goldie Cross, R.N. of London, attended the Forrest -McQueen wed- ding on Saturday'., Mr. Donald Walker of Toronto, is holidaying with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Walker. Mrs. Chas. McDonald and Miss Helen Swan are visiting with friends in Guelph. Mr. Lawrence of the staff of the Bank of Montreal is enjoying a two - weeks' vacation. Mr. and Mrs, W. R. Davidson visited recently with their son and daughter -iii -law, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Davidson, in Sarnia. Miss Mildred Jones of Kitchener, spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Norrnan Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. McKenzie and family of Clinton visited recently with Mrs. McKenzie's mother, Mrs. Violet Schwalm. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kaiser of De- troit visited this week with the for- mer's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Kaiser, Mr. Win, Slavin of London, spent the weekend with relatives here. • Miss June Saundercork of London visited over the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Annie Saundercock. Mrs: James Jarrett, a highly re- spected resident of this district, passed away et her home on the Town Bne, on Monday in her 79th year, the result of a serious fall she suffered at her home several days ago.
