The annual meeting of the W,A.
Mrs, (Rev,) A, W. Gardiner had
the misfortune to ,fall Monday even -

was taken to the home of her brother
Dr, Whyte, at Orangeville* for treat-
ment.
Pte. Scott Kerr, of Chatham, spent
the week end at his home here, Ile

and money belt at a presentation at

he had been employed,
Mr. and Mrs, J. S. Watson spent
Tuesday afternoon in Stratford' with

and luncheon given by the Continent-
al Can Co, of Montreal at the Royal
York Hotel in Toronto.

Official word has been received by
Mr. William McKay, Seaforth, that.
hi§ eldest son, Corporal John McKay,
now serving• in. Italy with the- Perth
Regiment, has been wounded the sec-
ond time, Last March he recoiled his
first wound in the right thigh, while
this time the report showed his
wound to be in the right elbow,

tives in Blyth.
Mr. Leonard Hudson and son Jack
of Toronto spent the week end with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Hud-
son, and his sisters, Mrs. Wilfred
Coleman, Tuckersmith, and Mrs.
Dalton Diegel, Brodhagen.
Nlrti Jessie Brown was in Goderich
last week owing to the death of her
only cousin, illi u, Patterson, age 87
years The funeral service was held
in the Presbyterian church of which

to the hospital this week, recovering
after being struck by a oar on Main
street on Friday afternoon.
HIBBERT
A lifelong, highly respected resi-
dent of Hibbert township, George
Vipond passed away at his home,
lot 13, concession 7, on Sunday
morning, December 3. He had not
been in good health' for the past
year, suffering from a heart condi-
tion. He was a son of the late Wm.
Vipond and Elizabeth Broad •Vipond,'
and was born on March 23, 1872, on
lot 6, concession 7, Hibbert township,
and they moved to the farm where
he passed away, thus residing on ,the
same farm for the past forty -,eight
years. He was a member of the Pres-
byterian Church at Cromarty, FIe is
survived by two brothers, Albert
Vipond, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and
Fred Vipond- of 'Hibbert township;
two sisters, Mrs. John 'Slee, ,Galt,
and Mrs. Robert Roney, Mitchell.
He was predeceased by- three sisters
and three brothers, one brother in
infancy. The body was resting at his
late borne. lot 12, concession '7, Hib-
bert township, where the funeral
service was held on Tuesday, Dec. 5,
at 2.30 pan, Rev. McWilliams, Crom-
arty, was in charge and interment
made in Staffa cemetery. .

Deep sympathy is extended to
Mrs. J. B. Mustard and family in the
sudden passing of their husband and
father, '.'hose death occurred on
Thursday evening, Nov. 30th.
We are pleased to report that
Mrs, P(Rev.) Atkinson who was oper-
ated on in Hamilton General Hos-
pital about a month ago, is now do-
ing nicely;
Mrs. Lindsay Eyre underwent an
operation in Seaforth hospital on
Tuesday. rFriends hope she will soon

Brightenbeck of Detroit spent a few
days last week with Mr. and Mrs,
James Wright ancl attended the

son, Lieut. Gordon Wright, H.M.C.S.,
advising there that he had arrived in
New York from overseas, He had
been stationed an Glasgow, 'Scotland,

"Niobe.'? Mrs. Gordon Wright, a vis=
itor at the Wright home, left Sunday
to meet her husband in Toronto,
Both will return to spend a couple of
weeks with Mr, and Mrs; James
Wright of Rippen, the former's par-
ents.

the newly appointed rector to the
parish. Several members from St.
James:. Church, Middleton, were pre-
sent, The fore part of the evening
was taken up with games followed
by a program consisting of music,,
singing, duets and readings, all to-
gether a very pleasant night was en-
joyed, A tasty lunch was served.
Mr. and Mrs: Nelson Reid celeb-
rated their 25th wedding anniver-
sary Monday night. Just the imliied-
late relatives were present.
Mr. and Mrs. Seeley of Clinton
called Sunday on his sister, Mrs.
Austin and son Russell,
Mr. Jas, Stephenson of the Gosh-
en line, who disposed of his farm
and household effects, has taken up
his residence in Varna at the home
of his sister-in-law, Miss Mossop, and
Mrs. M. G. Beatty. His many friends
welcome Mr. Stephenson to our
village.
The W.A. of St. John's Church
met Tuesday at the home of Mrs. M.
Reid, Lunch was served by the host-
ess, Mrs. Reid, assisted by Mrs. John
Aldington,
Mrs. E. Chuter is visiting in Lon-
don,

Miss Elizabeth Grant spent the
week end with friends in Toronto.
The church service on Sunday
first will he conducted by the minis-
ter. His subject will be "Sharing
Cur Best."
Teachers and friends of the Sun-
day School are busy preparing a
good programme for the Christmas
tree on the 19th.
The first of the Christmas school
concerts is to be held at Number 2,
Tuckersmith, under the guidance of.
Miss Watson and Mr. Golding on
Monday of next week, tbe llth.
Mrs.. Wm. Doig had the misfor-
tune to fall from a ladder last week
and because of the injury sustained,
was taken to Seaforth hospital on
Monday morning last. We wish her
a speedy recovery. Janet is staying
at Mr. and Mrs, Long's.
Mr. Bruce McGregor has been in
London where he has had hist eyes
treated by a specialist and is im-
proving nicely.
A great many from the village
and vicinity attended the banquet at
Hensall and all enjoyed it.
Mr. Ronald McGregor is in Sea -
forth Hospital where he has been
operated on for appendicitis and his
many friends wish for a speedy re-
covery,

The First Presbyterian Church,
East South Temple St., Salt Lake
City, Utah, was the scene of an int-
eresting military wedding at 8 p.m.,
Wednesday, Nov. 15; when Rev. F.
W. Baer, D.D (pastor), officiated at
the marriage. of Lt, Velio S. Bucci -
cone, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Dario -
Buccicone, 826 Grant St, Gary In-
diana, and Miss Margaret Ruth
Watson, eldest daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. C. Watson, Kippen, Ont. The
bride was lovely hi white brocaded
satin with a slight train and flowing
veil. Her only ornaments were a
pair of Mexican silver earrings, a
gift of the groom. She carried a
cascade bouquet of white roses with
an orchid set in the centre, Mrs.
Donna Holmes, matron of honor,
wore aqua blue net adorned with
pink velvet bows and carried a cas-
cade of pale pink baby mums with
matching headdress. Lt. Vincent J,
Clark was .best man. Immediately
following the ceremony, the party
enjoyed dinner 'and dancing in the
Empire Room, Hotel Utah. The
young couple are residing at 980
South State St., Salt Lake City,
Utah.
