WALTON
The following letters have been
received by Mrs. L. Rowland, sec.-
treas.,
ec:treas., of Walton U.F.W.O::
July 8th, Dear Mrs. Rowland T
receRVed the parcel you sent to me
onbehalf of the Farm Women of
Walton and was delighted with it. I
want to express my appreciation and
thanks to you all far your kindness.
I gues you will all be pretty busy
these times, when help is scarce. I
hope the crops are real good over
there, and that the weather is good
for the harvesting. The crops are
fairly good, most of the cutting is
done, and they are busy threshing,
most of it being done with flails,
Fruit is plentiful now: it won't be
long till :the grapes will be ripe and
they sure grow lots of them here;
but I guess most of them will be us-
ed for making wine. I spent three
days in Rome a short while ago, and
visited some of the historic places,
among theta St. Peter's and the col.
tsennl. It is, I believe, the largest
ehurrh in the world and I was amaz-
ed at the architecture and the work
it must have been to construct such
e bonding, We had a guide with us
explaining the history of the church
and it w;;' very interesting, Rome

July 1. Dear Friends: Many,
ninny thanks for the grand parcel of
foodstuff Zvltiell caught up with me
yesterday, erda;-, Itactually only' took a
month to arrive in England. but it
took another ten days to catch up
with m'1. It really is lovely and we
wilt certainly he able to have a good
big "feed” out of that. You know I
have received so many- parcels from
so many organizations and " different
people around Walton that I'm
slightly confused. I didn't realize
that Walton had so many wartime
organizations but all of you are cer-
tainly doing grand work. The coun-
try will be a busy spot these days
and the present and especially the
past month would be a grand time
of year. There still isn't anything
like the grand old Ontario country-
side no matter where you go. I have
a slight change of address as I- ex-
pect to he moving around consider-
ably and expect to be with the Brit-
ish Army. It's going to be a bit of a
change but it is all in a wartime. As
ever, BOB HAMILTON.
June 19. Dear Mrs.- Rowland: Par
cel from the ladies received today.
Will you please pass along my thanks
to them, It 'was a pleasant surprise.
There sure are a lot of new people
around home now. I haven't met
you that I can remember, but may
be spared for the honour some day.
I hear from home quite regular so
have a mind's picture of things that
happen, 1 see the oats are coming
in head and the news in blossom. We
had a poenY in bloom in the back
yard. Really there is little news that
I can tell so must say goodbye and
thanks again. Sincerely, WALLACE
SHANNON.
