Late Idnrry Gidley—
A life-long resident of Exeter
died at his home on March 20th, in'r
the person of Mr, Harry J. Gidley,
one of the pioneer businessmen,
Samuel and Richard Gilley were
furniture manufacturers during the .
early days and Mr. Harry Gidley
learned his trade with them. He was
an expert cabinet maker and during
his later years has conducted a work-
shop at his home where many pieces
of fine furniture have been made or''
remodelled. His patrons 'being from
coast to coast. hle was also a talen-
ted musician and for many years was,
leader of the Exeter band and at one
time conducted an orchestra in Cav
en Presbyterian Sunday School. He
was twice married.

WINTHROP
The Easter thankoffering meeting
was held in the schoolroom of the
church April. Mrs. Robt. McFarlane
presided, The Scripture was read by
Mrs. W, Church. Mrs. H. Blanchard
led in prayer, Mrs, H. Alexander and
Mrs. W, Somerville were appointed
delegatds to the Presbyterial to be
held in Clinton. It was decided to
send a donation to the Victor Home.
The first quarter for the W.M.S.
was given with very gratifying re-
sults. Margaret Habkirk rendered a
very beautiful solo. The guest speak-
er was Mrs, Earl Mills.
The Helping Hand Mission Band
held their Easter thankoffering
meeting on April Sth, The Scripture
was read by Glen McClure. This was
followed by prayer by Lorraine
Smith. I:ois and Doreen Hogg sang
a duet, Mrs. Rev, Patton was the
truest sneaker and told an interesting
story.
