Circle No. 5 'of the Women's in-
stitute held a progressive euchre
party at the home of Mrs, Arthur
Colquhoun. High prizes were won by
Mrs. Wilbur Miller and Harvey Ham-
bley, the consolation prizes going to
Mrs. Duncan Colquhoun and Clifford
Dow. A goodly sum was raised for
the Red Cross Society. Lunch was
served.

Mrs. E, Skinner's on Friday or last week,
the World's Day or Prayer, with seventeen
present. The program was prepared by Mrs.
W. Dickey and Mrs. P. Muth presided over
the meeting, opening with singing "In Christ
there is no East or West:" 'Worship.service.

readings and Mrs. Wm. Routly, Mrs. Garnet
Johns, Mrs. A. Pym, Miss Dora Delbridge
and MPs. Squires Herdman rend passages of
Scripture int tithe 23rd Psalm was repeated
in unison. Mrs. II. Ford. and Mrs, A. Cooper
led in. prayer. After singing a hymn Mrs,
Frank Brock gave a temperance rending,
Mrs, Delmer Skinner rend a poem, Mrs.
Dickey gave a short reading from circ study
book. Miss Ruth Skinner gave a reading and
Mrs, R. E. Pooley closed the meeting with
prayer.

The McIfillop Centre Farm Forum met on
Monday evening, Feb. 28th at the home of
Mr. Jew. Morrison with nn attendance of 25.
adults mrd 10 children. After listening to the
rormm broadcast "rhe United Nations Food
Conference," the meeting was divided iota
four groups. The reports of each group were
rend and an Interesting discussion followed.

evening, The next. meeting ,will be held at
the home of Mr. Lorne Elliott 'with Mr. Wm.
Boyd as chairman,
Duff's Church, McKillop, held the World's
Day of Prayer at the home of Mrs, Chester
Henderson. Mao. Patton, president of the
opened the meeting, the theme be-
ing And the 'Lord wondered that there was
no intercession. Hymn' 252 was sung and the
Scripture lesson, given by. Mrs. Patton, was
token from Isaiah. This was followed with a
hymn. The second part of the program was
taken by Mrs: Chester•. Henderson, president.
of the W.A. which was followed by hymn
300. Frankincense, for intercession, was red
by Mrs, Herald Lawrence. Prayers:wore given
by Mrs. John Gordon and Mrs. Herald
Lawrence. :Hymn 265 was sung..At this time
Mas, Russell r)orrmme - gave a splendid tack,
taking for her topic the value of Drayer,
Iliteroossion for the refining of the spirit of
mankind was led by Mrs. Wm. Shannon.
Mrs. Patton .favored the ladies with a beau..
ti I'nlly rendered solo accompanied- by Miss
Lizzie I•Ienderson. Hymn ':568 was sung fol-
lowed with prayers given by Mrs. Ivy Hen.
Berson and Mrs. Joseph Hogg. The meeting
closed with the national anthem,. Refresh
molts were served by the hostess.

spent the Week end with her another,

.A very enjoyable, time was spent at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. E,
Cook on 'Friday evening, when a num-
ber of girl friends surprised Eleanor
with a birthday party. Games were.
played and Eleanor was the recipient
of many beautiful gifts, including a
decorated birthday cake.

The World Day of Prayer service
which was held in Carmel Presbyter-
Ian Church on Friday was largely at-

R. Cameron received- at the door. Ser..
vice commenced with Mrs. C. Hudson
Presiding, and welcoming all present
and reading a short message , atter
which the hymn, "In Christ There Is
No East or West," was sung.. The
Scripture was read from the 69th
chapter of Isaiah followed by respon-
sive
esponsive prayer. The -hymn, "Jesus Shall
Reign Where'er The Sun," Mrs. R.
H. Middleton then presided, and led
in prayer for all those in distress

W. 13. Cross then presided and led in

was sung, followed by the special ad-
dress by 'Mrs. (Rev,) 'Taylor on the
theme, "And The Lorca Wondered
that there was no Intercessor." Miss
Margaret Dougall sang a solo entitled,
I Como TO Thee accompanied by I
her mother, Mrs. A, Dougall on the
piano. Mrs. Middleton presided and.I
led in responsive reading. The offer-
ing was received and dedicated in I
prayer of consecration. The service
concluded by singing "The bay Thou
Gayest Lord," alter which Mrs. C.
:Hudson led in prayer for the govern-
ment ot our nation and the national
anthem was stung followed by the
benediction,
DUBLIN
.A pleasant social evening was
spent in Stand town hall on Monday
evening when a large crowd of
friends and neighbors honored Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Burns on their re-
cent marriage. Dancing was enjoyed.
After lunch was served the couple
were made the recipients of a well-
filled purse of money. Louis O'Reilly
read an address and made the pres-
entation. Mr, Burns made a very
suitable reply on behalf of himself
and his bride. This was followed by
"For They Are Jolly Good ,Fellows."
Music was supplied by local violin-
ists.
Mr, and Mrs. Alex. McGillvray
and little daughter of Clinton have
moved into the house recently va-
cated by Frank McConnell.
Hunters from `-the village and dis-
trict enjoyed a fox hunt on Wednes-
day afternoon. The game was plenti-
ful but the hunters'were not lucky
enough in getting any.

New Gasoline Licenses
and : `armor Coupon oaks
On March 31, the present gasoline licenses and ration coupon books
will expire. After that date no gasoline will be sold except 011 the
presentation of a 1944-45 ration book.
In his own interests, every vehicle owner is asked to apply at once
for a license and ration coupon book for each of his vehicles.
Application forms must be completed hi detail.
Commencing April 1, under the 1944-45 rationing plan, 'the opera
tion of which will be basically the s,rure as that now in effect, all
non-commercial vehicle owners will again be allowed a basic'' AA
gasoline license and ration coupon book, conrainiug 40 units for a
passenger tai-, or 16 for a motorcvci—
Similarly, owners of vehicles eligible for a"Special ' carcgory, who
can prove their need,' will be granted an extra vocational allowance,
fixed in advance for the year ending N'farch 31, 1945. In determining
the extra ;Allowance — wh ich will be pleasured to individual needs
— theprevious category and mileage of the car will not necessarily
be an important consideration.
The extra vocational coupons will again be issued in books labelled
"Special", and each book will contain not more than 60 units. To
permit constant review of the needs of each category applicant, only
one "Special" book, or portion thereof, will be issued at a time.
The Oil Controller also has the right torefuse any application for
a "Special" category; or to suspend any ration coupon book for
an infraction of the regulations.
The shortage of gasoline is still acute. Do not apply for a "Special"
caregory unless your need is. urgent, "
Gasoline for commercial vehicles will again be rationed. To assure
themselves sufficient, gasoline to carry on normal business activi-
ties alter March 31, operators of commercial vehicles are urged to
complete at once and in detanl the required application for each of
their,vehicles.
On and after April 1, service station attendants will not accept
gasoline ration coupons unless the license place number of tine motor
vehi4le for vvinich they were issued is written in ink on each coupon. -
Every motor vehicle roust also display on its windshield a 1944-45
sticker indicating the category of the coupon book submitted at
the time of the purchase.
If the owner of a motor vehicle sells, transfers or disposes of it in
any way, it is his obligation to see that the gasoline license and
ration coupon book for drat vehicle is renu-ned immediately to the.
neardst Regional Oil Control Office.
To obtain a gasoline license and radon coupon book, secure ,an
application Lorin at your neatest Post Office. Study the
form, and follow carefully the instructions contained therein,
When you receive your 1944-45 gasoline ration book, guard it carefully.
Do -not leave it in your car. 12, because of your negligence, it is lost or
stolen, it may not be replaced,
