Mr, John McEwen returned home on Monday after attending the Royal Winter .Fair in Toronto. Mr, and Mrs. John Henderson and family spent.. the weekend with relatives at Glencoe. Miss Alice Pfaff of Exeter was the weekend guest of Miss Mary Goodwill. Mrs, R. Donaldson of London .is holidaying at the home of her mother Mrs, A. ,Saundercoek. The Arnold Circle Evening Auxil- iary met at the home of Mrs. Melvin Moir on Monday evening with Mrs, L, Baynham co -hostess. Miss Jean McQueen presided and the meeting opened by singing "Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters" after which Mrs. A. W. Kerslake led in prayer. The scripture lesson Acts 8 was read by Mrs. R, MacLaren. The minutes, business and offering fol- lowed and the roll call was answered by "How to attain ,peace". A com- mittee comprising Mrs. Garnet Mousseau, Mrs. Harry Hoy and Mrs. Melvin Moir was selected to bring in the slate of officers for 1.948. Mrs. Wm. Brown very ,ably presented the topic entitled "Abide with me". Mrs, H. C. Bell favoured with a piano in- strumental. The meeting concluded by singing "Abide with me" and the benediction. Refreshments were served by the hostess and her assist- ants. Nomination At the nomination meeting held in the Town hall, Hensall, on Friday evening for the purpose of selecting 0.110004 1 Reeve, Councillors, School Trustees and Hydro Commissioner, the follow- ing list were chosen by acclamation. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Kipfer intend moving to Lucan this week where the former has accepted a position with the Hydro Co. Miss Jennie Jolly 'spent the week- end in Toronto. Dayman-'Monk Talbot ,Street Baptist Chu,'rch, London, decorated with Chrysanthe- mums in full . shades, and lighted candelabra, was the scene of the marriage on Saturday of Edith Lu- cinda, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs: Harold Monk, London, South, to Donald MacGregor Hayman, only son of ,Mr, and Mrs. Thos. Dayman, Kippen. Rev. Harold Trimer per- formed the ceremony and bridal music was played by the organist Mr. W. R. Golding. Entering the Church with her father, ,the bride chose a gown of white slipper satin for her wedding, fashioned with ba- teau -neckline and the waist forming a point at the back accented with a long peplum, the gown was worn with a finger-tip veil of illusion caught to a satin headdress. At the reception held at Llyn Lodge, Mrs. Monk received the guests wear- ing a two-piece ensemble of Week: crepe with pink and black accessor- ies and a corsage of pale pink roses. The groom's mother cirrose a blue i wool suit with black accessories and her flowers were red roses. For their honeymoon to Eastern Canada the bride donned a gold wool suit with matching hat with black feather trim, black Persian lamb coat and black accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Day - man will reside at Kippen. Mrs. A. C. Meidinger is visiting relatives in Shepherd, Mich, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cook and daughter of Windsor spent the weekend with the former's parents Mr. and Mrs. C. Cook. Mr. and Mrs. P. L. McNaughton, Dorothy and Robert recently visited with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Scruton and family in Port Dover. Mrs. John M. Glenn accompanied by her sister Miss N. MacTag- gart of Exeter visited during the past week with relatives in Toronto. Mrs. E; L. Muckle, Charles ' and Bobbie spent the weekend in Toren-, to with Mrs. Emma Boyle and Miss Helen Boyle 1t. N. Mr. 'and Mr's. E. Shaddick, Judith and Billie were weekend visitors in Palmerston with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Lavelle and family. Miss "Jennie Jolly was soloist on the air over Stratford RadioStation on Sunday afternoon. The occasion being the anniversary of Ontario Street Pentecostal Church. The nuiuber Miss Jolly sang was "The Lord's Prayer". Mrs. Moir spent the weekend with Mrs. J. D. Stewart. The Evening Auxiliary Bazaar held in the school -room of the United Church on Saturday after- noon Nov, 22nd. was a, splendid success. To those who helped by thole generous donations and kind assistance the auxiliary members wish to express their sincere thanks. In connection with the affair the W. M. S. served tea.
