Wm. Dignan visited with Mr, and Mrs. Wm. Jarrott in Briden and attend- ed the annual fair, The ladies of Chiselhurst United Church are holding a bazaar and hone -baking sale in the school -room of the , Hensall United Church on Saturday afternoon Oct, 18th. Mrs. Hannah ,Workman returned hone after .spending- a Week with her son -in-laws and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Britton at Dublin and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Stan - lake at Exeter. Mrs. Olive Scherk of Toronto spent a few days here during the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shepherd are holidaying at the home of the latter's parents Mr, and Mrs. Jas. Smillie. Mr, and Mrs. Jack Corbett and family visited recently with Mrs. C,otbett's parents Mr. and Mrs. Al- bert rt Morenz at Grand Bend. Mrs. A. D. McEwen spent a few days at Paisley owing to the illness and death of her father Mr. Spar- row. Mrs. J. W. Ortwein Mrs. J. W. Ortwein a resident of Hensall for the past 40 years; died at her home following a lengthy ill- ness. She was in her. 37th year, and Was the former Elizabeth Wagner, born in Wellesley and was marred in 1590. Her husband predeceased her a year and a half ago. Miss Florence Schwalm of London spent the weekend with her mother Mrs. Violet Schwalm. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Minor, Joanne and Jack of Port Huron visited over the Weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Roy MacLaren and Donald. Mrs. .3. MacDonald and daughter Miss. Marguerite MacDonald left on Friday for Windsor, from there they will accompany Mr and Mrs, Harold Rathwell and family to Arizona, where they expect to spend several months. Miss Barbara Michie spent the weekend with relatives and friends in London Mr. and Mrs. Jarrott of London visited recently with Mr. and Mis. W. 11, Cross. Mrs. Edna Corbett visited recen- ly with Mrs. Catharine Devlin. Mr, and Mrs. Harold Sherritt of Hamilton spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Sherritt, MacLean—MacGregor Carmel Presbyterian Manse, Hen- Sa11, was the scene of a quiet Wed - nig at 12 o'clock noon on Saturday when Rev. P. A, Ferguson united in marriage Margaret Jarrott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John MacGregor. and William John, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert MacLean. The bride chose a grey street length dress with black accessories and a corsage of uses. Following• the ceremony the hippy young couple left on a hon- eymoon trip to the States. On their return they will reside in Exeter. Mr. and Mrs. K. R. Hillier and family of London visited recently with Mr ,and Mrs. E. L. Mickle and ih. Miss Viols; Hyde left last week for Windsor where she expects to spend two months. The Evening Auxiliary :United t Murch: will hold the monthly meet- ing' at the home of Mrs. G. Brodt 1- ler:, on Tuesday evening. Oct. 14th with Mrs. J. Corbett assisting the hostess. Miss Violet McClymont will present the devotional period. Hensall's commun- ity park grounds; were chosen for the annual Weiner roast of the Woh- elo class (,of which Miss M. Ellis is teacher, and 'Mrs. W. Jones, Pres.) on Monday night, October Clth. The enthusiastic crowd of class members and guests fully enjoyed the re- freshments after which Miss Len- ore Norrinton directed recreation. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Diegel visit- ed with Mr. and Mrs. Wm.- Gollnitz at Mitchell on Sunday. Mr. Robert Rock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Rock, entered Waterloo Seminary to study for the ministry. Mr. Glenn Deigel has taken a po- sitionin the office of Monteith and Monteith, Chartered Accountants, at Stratford, Mr. Ebner Tuffin of Toronto with his wife and daughter, at the home of Mrs. Sophie Bennewies. Mrs. Tuffhi and daughter Geraldine, re- turned with him to make their home there. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Jordan, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wardell of Mitchell with Mr. and Mrs. John Amstein, or Sunday. Some took in the funeral of the late Mr. Deichert at Zurich Luther- an Church, on Sunday. Anniversary services will be held on Sunday next Oct. 12, in the United Church at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Mr. Tavener of Hohnesville in charge of both ser- vices. Special music by the choir. Rev. Reba Hern returned home last week after spending a week at Sault Ste. Marie. Mrs, Walter L.
