Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McMurtrie. Misses MargaretShepperd and Helen Moir spent the weekend in Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson and family spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs, Jim Morris and family in', Goderich, Mr, and Mrs. A. L., Case visited in Detroit and London over the holiday Mr. and Mrs. Alex Hildebrandt and family spent the holiday week- end with relatives in Windsor and Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. John Duncan of Toronto visited over the holiday with the'latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne McNaughton. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hemphill and babe of Stratford visited re- cently with the former's parents Mr, and Mrs. A. W. E. Hemphill. Mr, Wm. Cook of London was a weekend visitor with his mother Mrs. Devlin. Dr. and Mrs. MacLean of Toronto have moved into the residence they recently purchased from Dr. and. Mrs. Steer and are getting nicely etzled. Mrs. Ray Lammie and son of Cen- tralia visited recently with Mrs. Lammie and Miss Greta Lammie. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Drysdale and Jerry left on Sunday for a months 'vacation thru the Southern States and Florida, Arthur Clark Dies In London Arthur Clark, a well-known rest; of Hensall passed away on Fri- t evening in Victoria Hospital, 'Landon in his 79th year following an illness of two weeks. His wife, Mrs. Ellen Clark predeceased him in ll.43 and after that he went to 'London to reside with his son. Sid- Born in England, VIr. Clark re - .:ed in Hensall 25 years. He was ,n adherent of the Church' of Eng - 'land and a member of the Independ- e t Order of Oddfellowa in England. Surviving is one son Sidney, Lon- don, one brother Albert in England, two grandsons and one granddaug- hter in London. The body rested at the George E. Lyon and Sons funer- al Chapel until Monday at 1 p.m. The service was conducted by Rev. Canon C. W. Foreman, rector of the Church of St. John The Evangelist. Although taken by surprise Harold made a fitting reply, and ail joined in singing "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows." Lunch was served and a social hour enjoyed by all present. Arnold Circle Evening Auxiliary The Arnold Circle Evening Auxiliary of Carmel Presbyterian Church met at the home of Mrs. Stewart Bell Mon- day evening with Mrs. A. Orr co - hostess. The president Miss Jean Mc- Queen presided anti .opened the'meet- ing with prayer after which the liynui "We plough the ileitis and scatter" was sung followed by medita- tion "Give Cs This Day Our Daily Bread by Miss McQueen. The scrip- ture Matt. 25, 31-46, was read by Mrs. Chas. Forrest. The hymn "Lord of -Heaven and Earth and Sea," was sung followed by prayer by Mrs. Garnet Mousseau. A piano solo by Miss Ger- trude Bell, "0 Little Stars" was much enjoyed, - Arrangements were made for the "Blossom Tea" to be held at the home of Mrs, F. G. Bouthiou on Saturday, June 14th from 4.30 until 7 p.m, Airs.' R. Elgie interestingly pre- sented the topic on "Ministry of Heel- ing" (towards a Christian India). The meeting closed by singing "The King, of Love My Shepherd Is," and prayer by Mrs. Orr, Dainty refreshments were served by the hostess and co - hostess assisted by Mrs. H. C. Bell. Mrs. Fletcher of Mooresville visited recently with her daughters Mrs, E. Fink and Mrs. H. Hoye, Mr. and MA's. Ben Kaiser and Mrs. J. Kaiser are moving to Brucefield this week where they will reside. Wohelo Class Meets , The Wohelo Class met in the Sun- day School room of the United Church on .Monday evening with the presid- ent Mrs. Wesley Jones presiding.. Hymn "0 Jesus I Have. Promised" opened the meeting after which the Lord's prayer was repeated in unison. Scripture lesson Luke 10, 38.42, was read by Miss Michie. Hymn ''What a Friend We Have in Jesus," was sung. A thank -you card was received from Miss Tate. Miss Violet McClymont ably presented the topic, 'Friendship' A reading "This Canada of Ours" was given by Miss Ruth Hess, The closing hymn, "0 Master Let Me Walk with Thee" and the Mizpah benediction closed the meeting. A social hour followed during which Miss Michie directed several games. Mrs. Howe, Billy and Betty moved tc their new home which they recent- ly purchased near London.
