his parents Mr. and Mrs. Albert Baker
Mr. and Mrs. Albert. Kinnear of St.
Catharines, and son David, spent Eas-
ter week with her parents, Mr, and
Mrs. Albert Baker.
Mrs. N. F. Norris, Bob, Barbara and
Blanche, of Toronto, returned home
on Friday after spendipg the holiday
week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Ben Rising.
Mr. and Mrs, Ernest. Stevens hove
moved to the Fred Ennis farm at
Walton, which they have purchased.
Their house In town has been bought
by Mr. Laurie Scott, Blyth, who will
prove here in the near future.
Mi's. W. E. McLaren left Monday to
spend a couple of weeks in Pumsyl-
vania with her daughter, and 1Vir.
McLaren is visiting his daughter near

Amid an Easter se't'ting of North-
side United Church, Seaforth, Rev.
H. V. Workman, assisted- by Rev. R.
H. Williams, officiated at the cere-
mony which united in marriage
Lorna Isabelle, youngest daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Dale. and
Mr. Gordan Elmer Johnston, only
son of Mr, G. Johnston and the late
Mrs, Johnston. Music was played by
.Mrs. James A. Stewart, and Mr. J.
Stewart was the soloist, singing
"The Voice That Breathed o'er
Eden,” as the bride's mother enter-
ed the church, and "For You Alone"
during the signing of the register.
The bride, given in marriage by her
father, wore a lacestrimmed marqui-
sette gown and carried American
Beauty roses. Her two attendants
were dressed in taffeta gowns with
headdress and old-fashioned nose-
gays of sweet peas and rosebuds,
Mrs. Arthur Wright, in mauve, was
her sister's bridesmaid, and M1's. El-
gut Dale, in apple green. was her
matron of honor. The ushers were
Mr. Donald Dale, brother of the
bride, and Mr. Ralph Stephenson.
The bridegroom was attended by Mr.
Mervyn Hayter. The reception was
held at the bride's home which was
attractive with spring flowers. The
bride's mother received in .a figured
jersey gown with matching hat and
corsage of white carnations. The
wedding cake, made by the bride's
grandmother, centred the table,
where Mrs. R. 11. Williams and Mrs.
'B. F. Christie poured tea, and Miss
Isabelh McKellar, Mrs. W. Leyburn,
Miss Norma Jeffrey and Miss Vera
Mole assisted in serving. For the
wedding trip the bride donned a
gray wool suit with black accessories
and blue top coat.
VARNA
The Ladies of Varna United
Church held a meeting on April 10
to or'ganize Woman's Association of
the Church, Rev, Reba Hern presid-
ed over the meeting, opening • by
singing hymn 108 which was follow-
ed by prayer. Hymn 105 was sung
after whidh Miss Hern read the
scripture reading. The eledtion of

A Scotch concert will be pre-
sented by Egmondville United
Church choir under the auspices of
Varna W.A. on Friday, April 18th,'
in the town hall at Varna.

week to near Dublin. Mr. and Mrs.'
F. Wilson of Clinton, who purchased
Mr. Duour's residence have moved to
their new home,

The male choir which was recent-
ly organizer) led in the singing at
the evenng service last Sunday, they
rendered , several anthems which
were very much appreciated by all
present. Rev, E. R. Stanway was
organist and leader.
Mr. and Mrs. L. Eyre attended the
funeral of Mr. Eyre's aunt, Mrs.
Eyre, in London, on Monday.
The Red Cross are holding their
monthly meeting on Thursday after-
noon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T.
Baird.
Mr. Rainey and son of Granton
were guests with -Mr. and Mrs. A.
Dutton. on Sunday.

Miss Mary Scott has returned

friends in Toronto for a couple of

Mr. and Mrs. F. Tamblyn.
Mrs. Martha Gray is spending a
few weeks at the home of her son,
Mr. Eph. Gray, Palmerston.
The Easter thankoffering meeting
of the W.M.S. was held in the church
school room on Thursday, April 10,
with the pres. Mrs. Townsend pre-
siding. Meeting opened in the usual
form by singing an Easter hysin,
and all repeating the prayer for
guidance, the Baby Band, Mission
'Band, and Mission Circle, all took a
part. A reading representing the
'Baby Band, was given by Mrs. Alien
Shaddick, Muriel Shobbrook rePt'e-
sented the Mission Band by singing
a solo and Lois Wood and Doreen
Armstrong sang a duet for the Mis-
sion Circle, Mrs. Bert Shobbroak,
Lois Wood and Thelma Shobbrook
gave a skit, Mrs. A. D. Penman
contributed a reading on Christian
Stewardship, Mrs. Lillie Webstnn•
gave a temperance reading, Mrs. C.
Vincent sang a solo, others who took
part were Mrs. W. Lyon. Mrs. G.
McVittie, Mrs. Margaret Manning,
Mrs. Penman, Mrs. Webster and
Mrs. J. Armstrong.
The Sacrament of the Lord's
Supper was observed on Sunday ,a.m.
at the United Church when several
united with the church, It was a
very impressive service.
On Sunday evening a special ser-
vice was held for the Hockey Club,
who attended in a body and occupied
the centre seats. Rev. Wooifley .of
Clinton being the guest speaker de-
livered a very appropriate sermon.
There was a full choir who rendered
excellent service, the meeting all
through being very interesting.

turned from London Hospital. Her

some time here has returned to her

KIPPEN EAST
The April meeting of the Kippen
East Women's Institute will be held
at the home of Mrs. James Finlayson
on Wednesday afternoon. April 23rd
at 2 p.m. Mrs, A. Finlayson will act
as co -hostess. Roll call will be a
suggestion for next year's program
and the motto will be taken by Mrs.
S. McLellan. There will be an ex-
change of flowers with Mrs. W. Doig
in charge. Music will be provided
by Miss M. McKay. This is the an-
nual meeting and the election of of-
ficers for the coming year will fol..
